update of randomness
hey look, it's a random update in which i skip around a lot and have no transitions! i bet you missed those, didn't you, gentle readers?
i chose a new "theme" for my gmail. it's the tea house theme, and it features a darling little fox. they show the fox playing with his bird friends out in his garden, or making dinner in his house, or doing calligraphy. i didn't know how gmail could make me even happier, but they somehow did it. now my gmail is CUTE!
i just finished my new hire modules from work. i needed to do them at home because i have had no time at work to do much of anything else besides working my ass off. we have a couple of hiring dates coming up that we are staffing for, and altho they have eased from being impossible to being do-able, they really do require a lot of time on the phone interviewing people, and a lot of time sifting through resumes.
i finally regained the ability to smell and taste late thursday night/friday. this is good, because it means i have my appetite back.
it's a good thing i have my appetite back, because TJ's just started stocking my favorite cookie ever: the candy cane joe-joe. we are on our second box.
thanksgiving is coming, and i'm looking forward to a relaxing day of food and games.
christmas is coming soon thereafter, and i have some good ideas on what gifts we'll be crafting this year, and i'm getting excited for the season.
the only sucky thing is i don't know if i'll be able to get much time off for the holiday, so we may be stuck down in SD and unable to travel since i may have to work the day after xmas. blech.
i've bought a few things from target lately, and i think at this point i need to stop going to target. ;) but i am wearing a sexy new nightgown!
cali was super excited that i stripped and re-made the bed on friday night. she celebrated by playing cat between the sheets, and then once i was able to move her and finish making the bed, she happily snuggled into the down comforter. china also approves of the comforter. the cats are very excited about this new blanket and love it so much that they deign to use it at the same time.
i've had this stupid cold for about 12 days, and i'm getting pretty tired of being congested and having to blow my nose. i mean, it's certainly 1000x better than a week ago, but still. can it be done yet?
last night j and i downloaded the latest penny arcade game - on the rain slick precipice of darkness, ep. 2. first impressions: slightly smoother to use than the previous one, and the writing really kicked it up a notch with regards to swear words and general vulgarity. i mean, i can hang, but i was happy with the levels of the previous game. blood and guts are also more gory. i'm still going to play it and have a damn fine time, and it's not at the edge of my tolerance level, but it's coming close. still, the story line is intriguing, and even with the extra crassness, the writing is just damn good.
i got my old car smogged today for registration. also filled the gas tank. next i need to get the oil changed, and then relist it for sale. i just want someone to buy the damn thing. i mean, it's a perfectly great car! argh. so yeah, going to list it again next week for a lot less than i was asking for originally, and hope that it just goes. i know the economy is sucky right now, but i really need to get rid of it, and it really is a great car for the price, so i hope that i find someone who needs a cheap reliable ride.
i ate the most delicious mexican food today with h. she introduced me to a delicious place nearby, and we got takeout and brought it back to eat with j. i could not finish my cheese enchilada plate, it was so full of delicious cheesiness.
the house is a crazy mess right now - my laundry is hanging to dry everywhere, including two door jams, one laundry rack in the middle of the floor, off the backs of various chairs, and across one stool. also our table is covered in post wedding stuff, and the floor is covered in who knows what. i think mail and the like. the dishes, however, are done (thanks to my darling cuteboy) and we have clean sheets and towels thanks to me. one battle at a time!
tomorrow we head up to LA to help a friend move. not the most relaxing thing to do on the weekend, but what can ya do? hopefully tomorrow night i'll have some time to put away some laundry and maybe excavate the floor. heh.
and now it's late, and i must to bed. we have an early morning!
