so. Paul and i went to the River Cafe. i dressed in my Audrey Hepburn outfit, complete with hat :) and he looked studlyyy. the street walkway and courtyard were cobblestone, and the cafe was tucked behind beautiful plants. everything outside was green. we got there and were seated at a large table in front of the windows. if you go  here to check out the place. there was a mature blck gentleman playing light piano, who i was told has over 20 CDs and has been playing there for over 35 years, since they opened. from where we were seated you could see from the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building. the entire skyline, from under the Brooklyn Bridge. breath taking.

i'm sure our dinner was at least $400. we were seated at the table and asked if we would like to start with Champagne. of course! pink champagne, that with the bubbles on your toungue you would die happy. my favorite dish was my appetizer. i had Yellowtail Tuna, stuffed with Fois Gras, and a Black Truffle sauce. i had never tasted truffle... i have now tasted heaven. we of course requested wines to match our dishes. mine was a very light Pinot Noir. lovely, and went so perfectly with the richness of the Fois Gras. Paul had lobster, and a chardonnay.
i had a full lobster tail and claw, (the claw melted in my mouth) and stuck with the Pinot Noir i was drinking. Paul had a perfectly medium cooked salmon, but decided he wanted to switch to a red wine. the Maite'D highly recommened one of their premium wines...

now, there is wine. and there is THIS wine. it was..it is... i can't... when you tased it, it was light and sweet to begin with, then the flavor in your mouth widened and became robust, and then rounded and became very earthy. it was literally a spiritual experience with every sip.

dessert, i decided on the Stick Toffee Cake with pistchio ice cream. with this i drank a Sherry. Paul had the Goat Cheese Cheese Cake with passion fruit sauce, and to ballance the richness of the cake he has a much lighter sweet dessert wine. however, when we were ordering, we mentioned that earlier we spied a chocolate mouse that had a chocolate Brooklyn Bridge atop, so they gave us that as well ^^

and as i sat back, again, drinking in the magic of what i was experienceing, i looked out to the view once more,  the moon had dropped down as a crowning jewel to the skyline. thus ended our evening, and we stepped back out to the warm breezy night.

oh yes, it was that good.

more recently, Beth is here!! through August! i have a friend here!!
last night i took her to 675 bar, and we both loved it. great palce and resonably priced :))
it will definitely be frequented.

on monday i hope to go to CT and hike with Paul in Sleeping Giant national park.
