This is totally my favorite commercial! I love how they made all the yawns sound like a song and then they're like, wake up people! It's so true, too. I'm always yawning until I have my morning PepsiMax.

Val sent me the link below. Can you believe people were trying to spread rumors that the patriotic Pepsi cans had an edited version of the pledge ( Read more... )

Why do you fail so bad at Viral Marketing? Have you people learned nothing from Sony's abortion of an attempt with their PSP blog?

I have no idea what you mean, mr. Jim! I have a major in psychology, not marketing. Certainly nothing that includes viruses. I also think Sony might take offense if you're talking about abortions. Not that I have anything against their choice of reproductive health.

Abortion, you technologically impaired sock puppet, has multiple defintions. In this context it refers to a group (Sony) choosing to cease (abort) an action (running a PSP blog) because they realized how badly that action had failed. The previous user was inquiring whether or not your company had learned anything from Sony's mistake. If anyone could have pulled off this sort of advertising, it would have been Sony - they at least have the technical know-how to understand what someone means when they refer to a technological abortion. Pepsi, on the other hand, is impressively bad at hiding its motives, and thus far has only succeeded in making Livejournal's user base steadily more irate. Whether this is a successful ad strategy for either company remains to be seen, but it is highly doubtful.

Wow, that is really interesting! I didn't know Sony was doing that. However, I took this class called Intro to Law and You. I think there's nothing wrong with me talking about how much I love Pepsi Max! If Pepsi wanted to hire me, I would first make sure they buy me that awesome dress in my user icon. Isn't Pepsi the coolest when it's retro?

f you're tired of those boring Black History Month things, this is a TOTALLY cool new way to view black people! In their totally awesome clothes!

Are you kidding? Are you really so shallow that you only value people of colours other than caucasian by "their totally awesome clothes"!!??!!

Actually, you don't need to answer that. Any LJ which is a poorly disguised corporate advertisement is a joke. I just wonder if your bosses at Pepsi Co. are aware of your racist tendencies?!

Ditto. Not only is this a corporate account with the thin veneer of a human being, it's also extremely offensive.

I had not realized that Pepsi's advertising department could possibly be this stupid.

All these anon comments are coming from that beardy pagan nerd.

A large majority of this userbase IS Pagan, asshole. Which you might realize if you were a) a real Livejournal user, and not a corporate scheme, and b) not a 50-something Pepsi rep.

You had your birthdate and year listed on your profile by the way, and being as you were born in the 50's, this is beyond sad.

Don't worry about being called a "troll." Here is the definition: "In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who comes into an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude, repetitive or offensive messages designed intentionally to annoy and antagonize the existing members or disrupt the flow of discussion."

So, people who come into your forum to annoy and antagonize you are trolls. On another level, if you were to go into other forums (say, someone eles's journal or an LJ community) and post deliberately annoying messages (such as thinly-veiled Pepsi adverts) then you would be the troll.

I haven't seen you do this (assuming that different accounts = different people) but a certain associate of yours has. So, people are probably assuming you are a troll by association.

My advice would be to ignore it, make some "real" posts (from the heart, not from the marketing board) and I'm sure that some of the commentators will become your friends.

That's... a really crappy ad. Did they really puy that on television?

pepsibettymaxxx August 18 2007, 15:18:32 UTC
Crappy? You didn't think it was neat to have all the people yawning? Did you know you can go to their website and "add to the yawns?" They've shown in scientific studies that if less people yawned at work, there would be more productivity. I agree!

Actually, I've seen multiple studies suggesting that yawning is actually a way for the body to wake the brain up with a sudden jolt of oxygen. Some scientists believe that the phenomenon by which yawns are contagious is part of an old evolutionary tactic - it was a way to wake up the "pack". If fewer (not less) people yawned at work, they would possibly fall asleep!

So this is what it feels like to be in The Truman Show.

C'mon, honey, you can do better. What about telling us all about how Pepsi Max has "zero calories, great taste and a boost sure to keep you going all day" and "this is truly an invigorating new cola"?

I WANT TO FEEL INVIGORATED. :O

Why do I need to tell you? :) You seem to know all about Pepsi Max already! That's really cool, could we be friends?
