Yes, I kept thinking "oh yeah, I'll do that post" and then more errant family turns up and goodbye free time.

Oh yeah - the whole idea of Sam as an angel, who'll do anything for Sookie is a pain in the arse too. I personally think that Sam has more pride than that, and I think Sam in a relationship with Sookie would be more demanding. Friendship has different boundaries on what you can demand on love - but of course, usually it's just Eric being that version of Sam. I'm often put off by the fact that there is no discernible difference in all of the suitors. The only thing they all share is a paternalistic attitude.

As for the Sookie not making up her own mind? 95% of this fandom operates under the belief that it is *Sookie* who should be fixed. Not the guys. The whole Sam thing is an extension of infantilising her.

I really think a whole bunch of people were blindsided by the Bill revelation - they never expected it. So they keep looking for something else on other suitors. You can find Quinn conspiracy theories, Sam conspiracy theories, Eric conspiracy theories, and as many Bill conspiracy theories as you can have up the wazoo. Second to that, Bill was 'ruled out' definitively when it was revealed, so in hopes of ruling out other suitors, I think they look for it to happen so that the choice is clear - suitor of their choice and no one else.

Personally, there are many things I don't know about my good friends, and stuff they don't share with me. That doesn't mean that they're doing something dodgy behind my back. It just means that it can be difficult when it's not just *your* secret to keep, and the shifter library *isn't* just Sam's secret. I don't think all the shifters would appreciate it if everyone told their significant others. That's how shit becomes common knowledge.
