A Dance of Dragons is one long arse book. :D I still haven't finished it and haven't had time to retrieve my Sookie audiobooks. And since I have no True Blood recaps to put up, I've been lazy as hell about things on here. Plus, the end of my ring finger is disturbingly flat and weird. One of my sons laughed at me getting creeped out at it, so at

Fully on board with the what Sookie did next school of thought though, and, like you say, I'm pretty sure someone else would want to snaffle Sookie up, and not just because she smells all tasty like in TB. She's terribly useful and just plain nice to have around if you're not used to being treated as human. And I wonder if, after all the upheaval of the Great Reveal, that's suddenly just as important for weres and shifters as it previously was for vampires - whereas before they could hide out and pretend they were completely human (like Sam's mother did with her 2nd husband), now they'd be looking for humans who are happy to accept them as they are. I think that came out in 'Small Town Wedding', that Sam's family were a little taken aback that Sookie was so open and accepting of shifters and it wasn't just Sam, she had several as friends and acquaintances and took it all in her stride.
Just don't get any ideas about trying to claim Jo Seagar - she's definitely ours! Although I'm sure she'd be sympathetic about your finger, as I am. Ow!

Even Quinn noticed that he could be himself - with his supe lifestyle and normal job - and not get judged. He comments on how relaxing that is. Even though Weres are out of the closet, I daresay they still face a lot of intolerance. Sookie isn't going to think you're weird or want you to hide that. And of course, there are weres who haven't publicly come out like Jason - weres that would scare the shit out of people. Sookie isn't some delicate flower, so if you told her you say turned into a bear, she'd just want to marvel at your bear fur, and read up about bears in the wild. I personally envy her being able to get close enough to a tiger - even if it is Quinn. But I think there wouldn't be lots of people as accepting as Sookie. Legally existing and coming out without being thrown into a mental hospital - like gay people - is only the first nominal part of the battle. Unlike gay people though, shifters don't always want to date other shifters.
She is the most wonderful cook. I wish she was ours. But she's saved me a fuckload of time in the kitchen. :D

Oh yeah, she'd be a treat for a Were or a shifter because she might moan if they wanted to mess up her land at the full-moon and leave disgusting deer carcasses too close to the house, but you know she'd still basically be OK with it.
But, I think, that as she'd be wary with vampire politics, she'd be wary of shifter or Were politics now. She's been embroiled in enough crap from Alcide, Debbie, Jannalynn and even seen the realities of HotShot (the breeding obligations and the hand-breaking rituals) to probably want to find herself a nice loner. A Sam who isn't actually Sam, I guess.
I have patted the tiger cubs at Australia Zoo. I was a little disappointed they weren't as plush as Earl, their fur is all wiry.

Lol - indeed. And she's perfectly situated with all those lovely secluded woods.
I agree - and I note that she got into it with Quinn and did consider Sam more than Alcide just because of the lack of politics. It looks like there's plenty of shifters around. She could always go out on the town with Luna and find a new man.
Oh yes - they look pretty from far away, but up close they're rough little killing machines. I think I'd like the idea of riding on the back of a tiger, like on the cover of Definitely Dead. :D

Sookie's woods would be a huge selling point (and that sounds like a double-entendre), and she would be happy staying on there, so whoever she wanted to date would get the benefit of Sookie and her land.
I would love to read the story where she goes out with Luna! They actually seemed to be having fun at the wedding, despite the death and mayhem. Maybe the cute Chinese Were cop has a friend?
Have you ever read any Angela Carter? I love her stuff (she did a story based on the 17th century play by John Ford, ''Tis Pity she's a Whore', as though it was a Western directed by John Ford. Brilliant), but I always remember her story 'The Tiger's Bride' and how when the main character at the end transforms into a tiger, her diamond earrings become drops of water running down her beautiful fur. I've loved the idea of being a tiger ever since :)

Oooh yes. I'm sure it'd be nicely positioned so that if you wanted to date someone from Long Tooth or Sharp Claw, you're okay. And you could even use it to launch a takeover of territory.
It would be great to read more Luna. I'm sure that the Chinese Were does have lots of friends. :D
I haven't - but I'll be looking out for that. I do love Betty Sharpe's Ember. That's a fairy tale I can get behind.
