Yay I read Deadlocked! I haven't gotten my print copy yet, but it's waiting at the post office. I have both electronic versions - ebook and audio. I always like to listen to the audio version on the train going to work - I get major travel sickness, so the audio version helps me to speculate instead of vomit. It's the PMR way. Speaking of work, I

I`ve tried to pin down what I loved the most and I think it`s the fact that Sookie was loved. The whole birthday made me all teary. Quinn calling her, Sam and the other people at Merlotte`s surprising her, the vamps coming to her place, Alcide .... no, wait ;-P
And, as you mentioned, Sookie`s growth. She`s come a long way from book 1 and the period of time is really not that long.
I see that people are angry with Eric and calling him a dick for not being the knight in shining armor. Well, I don`t want him to be a knight in shining armor. I like how this book portrayed some kind of equality between Eric and Sookie. They both wanted the other one to "prove" their love - Eric wanted Sookie to use the CD and Sookie wanted Eric to tell Freyda to take a hike. And so we are at a stalemate that has to be solved in some other way than one of them making a big show of their love.
I have plenty of questions and if I could do a request then I think Felipe should have a PMR-post soon ;-) What is he doing? What does he want? Why is he talking to Freyda? Who is he? What is he? What is the meaning of life? Small questions like this :-D
Looking forward to more posts about DL. They`ll be my pacifier until the next book is released. A year ... sigh.

The more I think about Felipe, the more puzzled I am that QSA seemed very interested in acquiring a telepath, while Felipe for a couple of books hasn't shown any direct sign of having a use for Sookie in that capacity.
Is he less forward-thinking than QSA? Does he discount Sookie's value as a telepath because Sookie couldn't prevent QSA from being grievously injured? Or is there big bad machinations happening off the page?
I await your Felipe post!

Well, Felipe's problem is that Eric has stood in his way. She is essentially untouchable as Eric's wife - you can't threaten her or it's pain of death time. You can only threaten Eric, and you can't threaten the thing he holds dearest. Which is why Felipe is going to try as hard as he can to fuck Eric up, and not be his friend.

I thought the birthday party was nice - and Quinn is such a sweetie to call her. Although I'm slightly sad for him that he won't get to be with his babies.
Sookie's growth was great - and to be expected really. There was no other way to deal with her issues.
Eric was never a knight in shining armour though. Assuming "love" underlies all his motivations was foolish in the extreme. The fact that they chose not to think about anything and defaulted to that is *their* faults, not CH's. I mean, I get it - it's not like the caveats don't exist in the text, for goodness sake.
I'll put Felipe down below Sam, just because he requires more re-reads. Gotta analyse these vampire royalty like Whoa. Every word could be a nasty surprise.
I shall endeavour to comfort you as best I can. :D

Just as it`s foolish to assume that love lies under his motivations then it`s foolish to assume that he would have to make some kind of great gesture to actually love her. I truly love how Eric, and the other characters, are very "human" in their reactions. Being a knight in shining armor is not the way most people react to problems.
I`ll look forward to both Sam and Felipe. :-)

I completely agree. Love really isn't about grand gestures - it's about a guy and a girl deciding that they can't live without one another. Not because you had some grand barge somewhere. That only works for Cleopatra to snag a husband.

Eric really needs to use some of his hard earned money to buy himself a clue.

Made me very angry at him. I also noticed on the SVB blog there far few comments from the "I hate Sookie, I love Eric" team. These people always confused me as they've said "I only read it for the Eric character" ...yeah, ok. Maybe they actually noticed him being a dick this time around.

A fangbanger would have given it over to Master, so that he may use it to get himself a warmed blood. Let's be thankful Sookie is not a fangbanger.
