Happy New Year guys. I've been in 2012 for a couple of days now, and hopefully the rest of you have now joined me. No signs of Nostradamus' comet yet (the Mayan apocalyse is December - phew, it's a big year) but if it hits, I'll try to post to warn you all, since I'm in the future. It won't do you any good unless you have a rocket to the moon, but

I think the assessment that Sookie is "untouchable" is an important one, both from the perspective that she /will/ have to deal with people trying to get to her via her loved ones and also in terms of where the line ends, so to speak. For instance, I'm sure that Felipe knows Sookie was involved in the takedown of Victor's regime, not to mention Bruno and Corinna's disappearance, but since he has no proof, he has no justification to get around her being off-limits. If, however, he has more solid evidence than a logical line of reasoning (e.g. he sees her take a potshot at one of his guards), is that grounds to start going after her directly?
See, one of the few things that True Blood has done right in terms of the books was to describe Sookie as ruthless in defense of those she loves (whether they've actually /shown/ this is another matter entirely). I can see Felipe's harassment getting to the point where she can't sit back and take it anymore, so she declares war on him. Now, she's not stupid enough to outright attack him, but small acts of aggression in arenas where she has the upper hand (during the day, for instance) are totally within the realm of possibility. Thus, I have to wonder: at what point does Felipe's need to retaliate override her untouchable status? Depending on where that delineation is, she could get away with one hell of a crusade. Granted, I'm not sure that she would - at present - expend the effort for Eric, given her doubts about his desire to be with her, but for Pam or Jason she might bust out the big guns.
Of course, this may just be wishful thinking on my part, because I like heroines who kick ass and decline to take names because they're too busy kicking ass.

I think even if Felipe had direct evidence (and he could probably frighten it out of Palomino, Rubio and Parker) he couldn't conceivably have a go at Sookie. He could certainly frighten the shit out of her and threaten to take it out on Eric instead. And Eric for his part has to play it very carefully because he has to stay alive and keep his head above water.
I absolutely agree - that's one of the only things True Blood got right about Sookie. It's just a shame that they haven't shown it often, and when they have it's been linked with nastiness.
But I don't see Felipe pushing Sookie that hard to have her arc up at him. Victor did it wrong, but Felipe is all gracious while trying to get one over her. All Sookie really has to do is imply that she won't fully co-operate if Felipe he pushes the point. When the person in question is the one person who finds out about Fellowship plots in your vicinity, you can't push it too far with them, just in case they keep their mouth shut.
And if she really crusades against him and brings him down, then she'd just have a new King or Queen to contend with. But there's also Niall in the world again to give a little extra threatening.
Lol - Sookie doesn't tend to kick arse often. Usually it's in the defence of others. You should read Lily - she's far more busy kicking arse, and can do it well. :D

Kennedy (and by association Danny) also intrigue me - I have this feeling that there's going to be some big showdown soon that involves a large portion of Bon Temps (I mean, we /are/ coming up on the end of the series) and she's going to come out on top. I'm reserving judgement on D'Eriq, but I think he's going to come down on the 'like' side.
Hmm. You make a good point. He's probably too shrewd for that, and I imagine he's got passing good control of his underlings now that Victor's gone. She probably won't feel a need to lash out, but that doesn't stop me wanting to know where the line is.
I don't think she'd go so far as to bring him down, or even incapacitate him to any degree - just enough to make it clear that she holds some power and he really shouldn't push it - since she is well aware that ousting one monarch just means another one will roll in with new rules. But you're right, she can make that point with words.
Niall...I'm not even sure I want to think about him. He's just such a wildcard.
I /have/ read Lily Bard. She's great, and I really love those little moments when she and Jack cameo in SVM.

I like Kennedy and Danny - I wish we saw more of them. I'd be happy with them taking up more time. D'Eriq warned Sookie about the fairies, so he's a good 'un.
I think Felipe will make his position very clear - but he won't push her past the point of no return. Just like Eric did it right when he first met her - and in their subsequent meetings - enough to put the fear into her, but no more.
Niall is a wildcard. But I don't think Sookie will bring him in. Unless he has some sort of indication, he doesn't come. It was Claudine that had the 'fairy life alert bracelet' on her. :D
I squee every time I see Lily and Jack too. :D
