Just in case it hasn't been made clear to people who come and visit my journal, and the link seems to be being shared.
I am Team Sookie.
I don't crucify the men in her life, but in the balance of things, I am always on her side. Surprisingly, I will make allowances for Sookie that I don't for a thousand year old murderer. I don't hide her faults, I

I had enough of it, honestly, and it's why I don't go to forums. The only moderator here is me, and I publish everything (except Thyra's accidental repeats). But I figure I should warn people before I blast the shit out of them. :D

I don't want Sookie to change at all. I like her how she is - and I'm completely on board with the idea that she shouldn't have to change into a vampire to make Eric happy. It's unfortunately everywhere that Sookie should just go along with Eric's program as if she doesn't matter at all.
I'm glad and thank you. :D And I don't mind people not commenting. :D

I think Charlaine Harris put it so well herself when asked if she was Team Bill og Team Eric. (This is from my memory and not a direct quote) "Sookie is not a prize one can win and there should therefor not be teams for one or the other."
The SVM is not romance, folks.

I have to say - that's completely right. If I'm going to root for anyone in the books, it's Sookie, to be made happy. Here here.

Totally agree! We all know Sookie's a bitch, and PMR needs to just grow up and admit it.

I write a fanfic from Eric's point of view, and sometimes I think reviewers forget that just as the SVM only give us Sookie's POV, my story only gives them Eric's - which is, obviously, biased in his own favor.
I read some of your other posts, and while we don't agree on everything, I definitely appreciate your staunch reminders that SOOKIE is our heroine, and people need to get off her case.

I think the problem is that no matter whose POV it is, there's more allowances made for Eric, and never any for Sookie. Of course, that could be that they're superimposing Askars onto him, or it could be just plain old women beating down women in time honoured tradition.
I don't mind if people don't agree. But I figure they deserve warning that if they come here to tell me Sookie should be more giving, more considerate, and secretly belongs to Eric, whether he's dating her or not, they're not going to like me telling them to basically go fuck themselves.

And I do think that Sookie should be considerate of herself, just like Eric considers himself. It's clear in Eric's world that he comes first (I wouldn't have taken the arrow in the shoulder, but I would have pushed you out of the way if there'd been time), so I give her the same ability to put herself first.

I agree that the ASkars Effect plays a part (like how I capitalized that even, like it's an official thing? Maybe some doctor type can write a book on it), and it makes me wonder where people's opinions stood prior to TB starting. Maybe there was more Sookie love back then, or at least less Eric idolizing so that it at least balanced out. Or maybe too many women are just inclined to hate/judge other women no matter what.

Lol - the Askars Effect. I've read that far back in fanfic, and it seems that people were a lot nicer to Sookie's character as a whole. Bill didn't get the short end of the stick either, and Eric was a little bit deified, but nothing too bad. But there was still an undercurrent of "Sookie's always wrong" and she comes to realise just how wrong she is in a lot of fic. It's just worse nowadays.

Despite my ASkars love, I didn't like TB Eric until I'd read the books. When he was first on the show, I just thought he was hot, but all lame on the stupid throne, and laughed at him. Then I took a brief hiatus to read the books, and thought he was a hoot. A dangerous hoot, but still. :)

I read Eric in the books before I knew Askars as Eric. The stupid throne is just pathetic. I much prefer the - as you say - dangerous hoot of Book Eric. He's so fun and intriguing.
