Okay, so this one was one of the biggest concerns people had here that I haven't covered yet. I keep getting distracted. Recently because I dubbed the new season of True Blood "The Season of the Too Many Ghost Daddies". It's Ghost Daddy fucking Bingo, with one token Ghost Granny (Adele). Behold:

I'd be fine with it never being used, but I think Sookie herself wants to use it, at least at this point in time. Of course, she's had no time to process it all. Maybe if she goes through a period of doubting that Eric will stay with her, she'll want to keep it around to make herself feel better - and as a 'just-in-case' thing. But CH has lots of balls in the air that never come down again. I like it too - never finding out what Hot Rain is doing, or whether Mickey will make a return. It's far more realistic.
Oh man, if I had it, it'd be like nice soap in my house - saving it forever for a special occasion. :D I think part of the reason it'll get used is because not using it is a heavy burden on Sookie - that everything could change if she uses it - like an escape hatch. I think once she uses it, it'll be an indicator she's on the right path and there's nothing she wants to change so much that she keeps the cluviel dor in reserve.

I wonder how Gran felt when she got it? She ended up forgetting all about it. Or at least not using it.
I agree with you on how great it is that CH does not pull down all the balls she throws up. That was why it annoyed me a little bit that she felt she had to explain the sister`s death in the end of the Harper Connelly series. She didn`t have to do that IMO. We don`t get answers to all the questions we have.

I think she did look at Sookie early on and put it aside for her. She would have felt a bit guilty about that.
That allowed Harper to have a HEA though. For Harper, she had to solve that mystery. She wouldn't get the perfect goal (the big house with Tolliver, and a sunny home life) but she got the satisfaction of her sister's death, and what changed and forged her life.

I`m not sure it did give Harper a HEA. Yes, the mystery was solved but it cost her dearly. And I think Harper could have lived without having that mystery solved. She`s had to live with a lot of other things that won`t ever get better either. Didn`t she say she was the original lemon-lemonade girl? And readers could definitely live with it. I always took the death of her sister as something that was part of forming her and therefor in the story - not something that needed to be solved.

That was one she yearned for though. She got all with all the other stuff, like her injuries, and had accepted them. But her sister's death kept coming back up. I think readers could have lived without it, but Harper needed that weight lifted, rather than waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Why don`t they just grab the biscuits? Did you hide them?
I have kids with amazing self control. They did NOT inherit it from me. On the contrary - if they leave candy behind when they go to bed, and they do that way too often because they never eat their candy, it`s magically gone in the morning.
Yes, the yearned for it but she never expected to solve it. So she would have lived with it.

Btw - loved how CH killed off Roe`s Martin.

She would have lived without it, just as she had, but it sort of ate at her all the time - waiting to come across it.
Oh man - I was heartbroken. I loved Martin. I was like "He can't really be dead *wail*". But I loved how CH knew her shady dudes, and knows her bodyguards. :D

Yeah, but that`s life, isn`t it?
I was heartbroken too (but I think you warned me so I kind of expected it too) but also found it great. Even the guy the heroine loves can die. No rules.
I still have the last two books to read and am curious about how she handles this death.
CH knows people. Different people and not just copies of each other with different hair color. And she certainly know their darker sides.
I`m having such a hard time with Roe`s height, though. Don`t think I ever met a woman that short and I just can`t seem to imagine it. Angel is described as HUGE and she`s shorter than I am. Love Roe`s glasses, though, she could be me in that way.

I loved it for the value of him dying. And no, they aren't just generic people - they are all different people. As for how she handles his death - you'll be pleased. And as you can see from Roe - Sookie talks out her problems way more than Aurora does. Sookie is a font of feelings talks next to her. Lol.
Well, just add a foot onto Roe's height. Then it will become manageable. I related to her not being able to get things on high grocery shelves though. :D But my cousin and one of my friends is that height. They're normal if you're not an ice giant. :D

Me too.
Yeah, Roe and Martin really talked things out, didn`t they? :-P
I do wonder about CH and how she lets her heroines choose their spouses/partners. Great sex seems to be a big part of it. Thus the relationship with Aubrey was just doomed.
I am so annoyed, btw. I was just ordering the last two books from Amazon Kindle and wouldn`t you know - they freaking don`t have book 7 online. And I REALLY don`t want to have it in paper since my bookshelves are full and I don`t want to wait the 5 weeks to read about how Roe handles Martin`s death. So if you should happen to have it electronically, I would be VERY pleased. With sugar and everything :-D

Oh they totally did - they were just chatterers. :D Particularly when Roe and Martin had that big long discussion about whether she could handle his dodgy lifestyle. :D
You're about to have email. :D

Not to mention how they discussed having a baby page up and page down. I mean, it wasn`t as if Roe not being able to have children was sprung on the readers because she mentioned it to someone else. And boy, did they discuss her going back to work too.
I must admit that I several times wondered what was really keeping them together but then conversation is a big part of my relationship to my husband. Martin was working all the time and the only positive things mentioned were their great sex life (though it had it`s dumps too), Martin taking care of Roe and getting her the right things (not to mention, marrying her when she was worried about being the eternal bridesmaid) and how they`d fallen in love with each other just by looking at each other.
And you just got a big fat kiss :-D

Lol - yes, and did you see that incredibly romantic marriage proposal? That was one to beat all! The flowers, harps, the dinner! Lol.
I suppose it can be hard to understand how to rub along with someone when there's no words to show how you rub along. I'm much more used to the observing side of the connection. I see the manner of Mr. Minty and know when he needs a foot rub, or a casual touch as I walk past. I think the last time I had a big talk about serious things was about 5 months ago, and he was slightly tipsy (meaning he was talkative - resulting in a whole two minutes of talking about serious stuff). I'm the Eric or the Martin, so I talk way less than he does about serious stuff. I think maybe it's best viewed through the least amount of friction and internal aggravation.
*shuffles feet shyly* :D
