This one is a corollary to my post about Bill. I kinda touched on the whole gift thing with telepathy, and that lead to some diverging thoughts. Often times when a new novel in the series comes out, I get a few people contacting me asking if I'm sure Eric is HEA guy. Along with that, the common complaint about Eric is that he's not really Eric, and ( Read more... )

I don't think she's put it all in by complete accident, you know. ;)

Sam obviously brought Sookie because she was tactically sensible. She's more restrained than Jannalyn, and she could read the minds of people, and was tactically better. Considering he did it because he was worried about his family, I don't think it's because Sam is inherently evil - and he's helped her out too.

Torture makes someone more violent, and more angry. It's a permanent change, and there's not really any going back. Which is lucky because Sookie needs that edge for her life. She's not going to turn into someone who can kill at will without some sort of provocation, but when it comes to dealing with threats, she's going to be a little more ruthless.

I loved the novella. I was happy to see Quinn with a woman of his own, and I loved the bits with Sam. I can't say that there was anything I didn't like. Of course, the common complaint is that Sookie has *shock* less than positive gushing to say about Eric - but true love involves knowing someone's complete character - good and bad.
