I feel compelled to announce this event separate from any other musings flitting through my mind - because of its import, and because it is why I've been silent the better part of a week.
My good friend Kenyata, the one whose unborn child has brought me to a new perspective on children and having them, finally went into labor at 2am Thursday morning. She gave me the priviledge of attending to her as she and her husband (and the midwife) went through 20 long hours of labor to birth the most blessed child
KIMONI TAHIR BARAKA, born February 1, 2007, 21.5 inches, 7 pounds 7 oz.
The state of grace in servanthood followed me into the weekend, where I began to understand some very profound things about ego, serving others, love, and authority, which I may post about later. For now, I am still amazed at how directly this new child on the planet has positively impacted my life. I look forward to the years ahead as he grows, and I hope to add to his emotional, mental, and spiritual growth as he and his parents will let me. May God be with all of us as we seek to serve this beautiful soul during his walk upon the earth.
