there's a man who regularly shops at the co-op named STONEWALL BIRD. and he wears this raincoat with a peace sign spray-painted on the back.
shortly after mr. bird came through my line on sunday, another man passed through by the name of RICHARD RAIN who lives on DREAMLAND LANE.
and i miss walking down city alleyways at night. creepy? sometimes. dangerous? maybe. and perhaps that was the appeal. knowing that what you were doing could be a little sketchy. next to the miad dorm building, where elisabeth lived, there was an alley which housed an old loading dock. it was renamed "THE BAT CAVE," just a little gathering spot, tucked away from the street and pedestrians.
one night during my junior year of college neil, megan, elisabeth and i drunkenly explored every alley in downtown milwaukee in search of dumpsters that might hold delectable delights (in particular, dunkin' donuts). we hoped we'd uncover leftover pastries or discarded pizzas and while no such thing happened we still had the best time ever slipping past building after building, singing aloud and linking arms at two maybe three in the morning.
p.s. my little sister turned twenty-one today. happy birthday, dear sister.
