Theology, Pt. 2

Aug 02, 2003 22:03

Tonight as we were coming home from the grocery store, we passed a church (which shall remain nameless) whose (which's?) marquee said, "Please pray that (name deleted) receives a liver."

Now I'm pretty sure they were talking about a transplant and not, say, getting shipped a calf's liver in the mail, so I'm uncomfortable with this request. Knowing what I know about the whole transplant process, this is entirely too much like praying for someone to die for my taste.

Granted, X might be at the top of the list and just waiting for one. X might even be a candidate for one of those partial-liver transplants. I don't know.

But for my own peace of mind, I think that I'll pray that X's condition stabilizes/improves/etc., to the point that X will be able to receive a liver when one becomes available.
