1.) I just finished my on-line summer coursework. It was miserable. I have decided that I hate on-line classes, and never want to do them ever again. I learn by listening, by discussing, and through hands-on experience, not from having a textbook thrown at me and my instructor saying, "GO!"
That said, I beat my finals. It looks like I will not flunk out before even setting foot on campus. Sweet.
2.) My beloved cat Tamlin vanished a number of weeks ago now. He was an indoor-outdoor cat, and one day he just never came back. I wasn't intending to get a new cat so soon- I want MY cat, not any other. But a friend of mine suddenly and urgently needed to get rid of a cat, on danger of eviction from her apartment. I now have a four and a half month old kitten again. Vanessa thought it was a she, but I'm pretty sure she's a he. He doesn't have a name yet. He's also a marmalade, a bit paler than Tamlin was, and long-haired. He also has a dramatically different personality.
Last night the as-yet-unnamed cat vanished around dinnertime. I was near frantic. I was sure he'd slipped out unnoticed (he will be a VERY strictly indoor cat- I've learned my lesson) and I'd just lost another cat before I'd really had him. I practically ransacked the house searching for him. Today around eleven he briefly reappeared to scarf down some wet food, then promptly vanished again. He might have to be named Houdini, or . . . I'm not sure. Someone who can pull brilliant vanishing acts. Moriarty? Appropriate evil-cat name . . .
Anyway, cat-who-needs-a-name is still hiding, goodness knows where . . . I think he spent most of last night underneath the sink and in the front closet.
3.) Tomorrow Lyndsay and Brian are getting married. This is exciting, but now I need to go try on my bridesmaid's dress and figure out some last-minute details, like "Can I wear those heels and that skirt without falling down and embarrassing myself in front of sixty near-strangers?"
4.) On Tuesday I am moving to Burlington, shadow-cat and all.
