1.) Today I learned how to operate a chainsaw, a skill which has long been on the top ten list of Things To Learn (Successfully accomplished: how to drive a stick-shift. Still waiting: how to fire a rifle). I chainsawed my way through about four large trees in the span of a few minutes. This will come in handy if ever the zombies invade. I mean, if ever I want to cut firewood. I also learned how to sharpen an axe (a skill long on the top twenty list).
1.) I am applying for two programs come fall- the Master's Entry Program in Nursing at UVM, and a post-baccalaureate pre-med certificate program, also at UVM. If I don't get into MEPN, the post-bac program will fill out my course requirements so I can apply to med school for Fall 2008 . . . wish me luck.
1.) My chimney-pipe was finally, finally fixed on Friday. I now have heat, and can move back home at my earliest convenience. Alleluia.
1.) I am very muddy and covered in sawdust, and off to Dr. Allison Turner's house(!!) to take a very long, hot shower.
1.) A rule for life: The secret to serenity is found not in gaining more, but in desiring less.
