because i want a really good reference...
ive been lesson planning my butt off.
heres the idea thats been forming in my head for the kindergarteners:
READ: The Very Hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle.
Monday: paint sock puppets to match the caterpillar in the story. Talk about the life cycle of the caterpillar.
Tuesday: cut out and decorate all of the foods he eats and store them in plastic bags. Discuss healthy foods and why our tummys hurt when we eat only sometimes foods like he does on Saturday.
Wednesday: rewrite mini books of the story in four square style.
Thursday: paint butterfly wings on fabric and attach velco to the edges so it can stick to the caterpillar.
Friday: make a salad with one apple...two pears....three plums..... and then decorate cookies green and place them all in a row. one red cookie with yellow eyes in the front as the head. have a Very Hungry caterpillar party and show off the puppets to the older groups.
eh, its an idea in progress. thoughts?
i think it covers a ton as well as gibes me a good photo op.
