Subject: Did I see your boyfriend at one of the Crossroad's Conference Panels?

Hola, Dr. Clayton!

I just had a fleeting thought. On Saturday, during the conference, I went to the Music and Words panel and there was this guy there who introduced the lecturer. He had light brown hair (I think), and he said that he was from New York, AND he played the saxophone. I can't believe I wasn't hit immediately with the connection, but now, like, three days later, I am now connecting the dots. (All this time away from the classroom must be bad for my brain).

DID I SEE YOUR BOYFRIEND?! *is freaking out*

Hey, Christine,

If by "this guy ... with light brown hair" who was moderating the music and words panel, you mean, the adorable, super smart and oh-so-charming Matt Miller, writer and saxophonist from New York City? Well then, yes, you so totally saw my boyfriend!

Actually, I know you saw him because I just got a call from said wonderful boyfriend in NYC and I pumped him for information about the audience at that panel. Indeed, he spied two "cool" looking people, guy and girl, with remarkably nifty glasses. ("They looked like Williamsburg hipsters," I believe he said.) And these two people who looked so cool were very quiet; he had hoped they would chime in during the panel. I know, it's not your way, Christine, but you know we all love it when you speak up! :)

So, the question now is, just who was this cool young man accompanying you? In other words, did *my* boyfriend see *your* boyfriend as well as you last Saturday? In fact, did I ever so fleetingly see your boyfriend as we crossed paths, as it were, at Crossroads? Oh, I wish I had stopped to say hello if so...

I KNEW IT.

You are right! He is super cute! And, very intelligent! You two are the cutest couple EVA.

And I am super surprised that he noticed us in that audience. Hahaha!

I was indeed accompanied to the Writers Con, but it was my brother. James is a Senior in highschool and is currently having a torrid affair with his electric guitar. He was the one that wanted to go to the Music panel, and we thought that it was an actual SONG WRITING panel. Unfortunately it wasn't (much to James's despair). We left, but I'm SUPER GLAD that I was finally able to see the FAMOUS BOYFRIEND.

Nice catch. :D

I'll probably catch you around campus! Have a great night!

Wow, so you have a cool rocker brother? How nice. (I'm assuming rock, not jazz or classical...but I may be wrong.?) Yeah, that's too bad that the panel was about music writing and not about writing music, I mean, for your brother's sake. There was a songwriters gathering, I think, on Friday night, but I didn't make any of those activities. Is your brother planning to go to MSC?

So, did you go to any interesting panels? I moderated one with a writer named Lauretta Hannon, who is terrific. She's written a memoir called "The Cracker Queen." Need I say more?

Hey, are you planning on seeing the Tim Burton film version of Alice? Will it come to Macon? I am going to New York on Friday, but I'm not sure that seeing it will be Matt's thing. He's not so into Johnny Depp, which, you know, I get.

If you end up not seeing the Alice movie with Matt, then I think it would be ABSOLUTELY AWESOME if we went to see it together! A movie and dinner kind of thing so that we can completely dissect all of the literary nuances of the newest Burton adaptation. (3D!!! A literal translation of shoving the very slice-of-life concept of reaching adulthood into the audience's faces!!)

It just makes me want to go back and add more and more to my senior thesis. Future book opportunity? Hahahaha! I plan on seeing the movie as much as I can without breaking the budget. (I've never been to the IMAX theater in Atlanta. How cool would it be to practically be IN Wonderland and experiencing Alice's plight FIRST HAND?!)

I am getting way too excited about this. Hahaha!

At the Crossroad's Con, I went to numerous interesting panels. The children's literature panel, Ad Hudler's panel on being a stay-at-home Dad and a successful writer, Firehouse Productions (they were these amazing British women with impeccable style and amazing accents) had a panel where they explained how they meshed together classic plays like "Stella" with modern-day stories collected from average-joe people, then I was at the Fiction panel for the rest of the day. It was my first writer's conference and I loved every bit of it. Did you visit any panels?

I hope you have a wonderful time in New York! Hopefully we can do something over Spring Break :) I'll be in Macon all that week (unfortunately, I have to work that week), so it's a great time for us to meet up for girl-time :)
