Anticipation of potential whumping is so much scarier than the real thing. And awww! Ingenious Sam!!!
Of course, I know that in the nick of time (probably literally) Jack and Teal'c come (or Teal'c and Cam and Vala...and Jack) to save the day. Whee! Um, right?
These cultures were quite bloodthirsty weren't they?
But yay, really neat story, pepper, full of nail biting suspense and sweet Sam & Daniel moment. You had them kiss! Hee! in an ambiguously shippy/non-shippy way! Hee!
Of course, in the nick of time they'll be rescued. Probably very dramatically. But forever afterwards, if they go past a tattoo parlour / piercing studio, Daniel flinches. And Jack just keeps mentioning it... *g*
Verrry bloodthirsty, yes. But oh, beautiful stuff - I love the Aztec and Mayan style, the elaborate carvings and all that. Pretty. Plus the names are fun - Quetzalcoatl, Huehueteotl, Chalchiuhtlicue...
And, see, it's a multipurpose kiss. Gen and ship at the same time. *g*
Yeahsureyoubetcha! Of course they will. They never let anything too bad happen to Daniel.
Well, there was the time he died, of course, and the other time he died, and the time they thought he'd died, and the time after that when... But they won't let anything disfiguring happen to him. *g*

Oh, definitely fascinating (I may have come back a little late from lunch, today...). Very, very scary, interesting, advanced, brutal collection of civilisations. They had, for example, a bit about the Mayan belief in the cycles of creation, and could specifically state that the Mayans believed the most recent cycle started on 13th August 3114 BC, because of the accuracy of the Mayan calendar.
And, don't worry! I'm sure they'd find some way to save themselves - or get rescued in the nick of time. :)
It was the fact that it was nearly 40cm tall that got me. I didn't realise at first that it was probably symbolic, rather than functional. Yow, though.
Thank you! I'm sure they'll find a way to escape - they're SG-1, it's what they do. :)

When we learned about the ritualistic bloodletting in my Latin American Civ class, it was...the idea is just so horrible. And fascinating.
