Yay! Thank you. I got to the point where it just seemed like a big mess, to me, so I'm really glad it doesn't seem like that to other people! *g*
And I think I understand what you meant in your last sentence. ;D The show is often quite flippant - Daniel particularly, I think - about the big, melodramatic stuff they have to deal with, and I've always loved that about it. Because you'd have to, really. :)
It might have made a little more sense if I'd not apparently decided that I needed two modifiers and noooooooo subject. "Actually very heavy" or "actually pretty heavy," take your pick.
I'm fascinated by Indian culture, so have been trying to lever that into a fic for ages, and this seemed to be the ideal time. Because I mostly write Jack, and Jack isn't interested in culture - whereas Daniel... *g*
I think he flicked the sword once, and it came back and nearly took his ear off, and then he had to go and sit down, looking a bit pale. And then he sulked at Sam for two days.
Sam, however, had a go too, and was really quite good at it. She was given one of the swords to take home.
Daniel found the sword on his desk when he got back from the infirmary, and immediately got over his sulks.
I love the last line, Pepper - it sums Daniel up so wonderfully, particularly in light of the conversation he had with Sam.
Great observation about no longer being an observer, and what it must mean to both of them to know that their actions affect more people than themselves.
Hammering out the last line nearly finished me off, so I'm glad it worked! *g* I kept revising, and not quite getting what I wanted it to say, and changing, and adding, and removing... uff.
Thank you! I was thinking of Daniel's pal Rothman, when he said that he didn't like people, because they were too modern (or words to that effect). I think the change from being an academic - no matter how much Daniel went out into the world to study living people and cultures - must be very different to actually running around with a gun, changing things. I'm glad that came across.

"But hey - maybe the universe will end before then."
"You're such a comfort," he said, dryly.
Hee! Wonderful. I love the easy way they can talk about actually very pretty stuff.
