New fic: One Fish, Two Fish

Feb 14, 2007 11:17

I tried to write miserable Valentines fic. I had an idea that I really liked, wrote 600-odd words of it, and just... stalled. Then I started editing. It's now at just over 100 words, and definitely won't be ready for Valentines, if at all. I have to admit it, I'm just not so good at angst. So, instead, I wrote this. I know that Valentines does suck ( Read more... )

schmoop, stargate fic, sam/jack, ficlets

Hee! Thanks.

I really did that, too. Well, not exactly as written, but my partner and I both bought each other marzipan animals from the local bakery, without knowing. Sickeningly cute of us. *g*

Aw!

That's adorable!

Valentine's Day has never really held much for me... I get something from Dad and the bro each year... and I have this guy friend that does the occassional nice thing for me... and one year my lab partner in Biochem bough both myself and his other lab partner M&M filled hearts, he was a sweetheart.

But nothing in the cute and romantic kind of way like that.

I really need to get out more and stop dating shitty people of both sexes.

I hated Valentines for years, but I eventually worked out a way of enjoying it: lack of pressure to have the perfect day, and champagne. I figure, even if I was on my own, the champagne (or other similar self-indulgence) would definitely help with enjoying the day. That's my theory for dealing with celebrations of any kind, in fact. Pink champagne for preference, because when people ask what you did, you can say "Oh, I had pink champagne," and it always sounds glorious - even if that was the only good thing about the day (witness my sixteenth birthday).

That, and presents with no practical use.

I'll shut up now.

It's almost enough to make me believe in Valentine's Day.

Yeah, I would've squeaked, too.

I think I would, too.

I couldn't think of a punchline.

See, it actually made me squee more this time. It's so pretty! The red and blue, the fish, the sweets--you get all the nice cliche stuff in there without pointing to it and going OMG! I'M A HUGE FAN AND KNOW ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ABOUT THE FANDOM!

(although I could swear I've seen that line about the sweet tooth/tough guy image somewhere...but that's not terribly important.)

Plus, the RL experience note is cute.

Ack. Yeah, I'm going to stop worrying about copying other people / repeating myself, because I'm starting to feel like a fraud. :S

And ta! *g* I thought it was a bit like being hit over the head with the Stargate S/J Cliche Stick, myself, but Valentines is a time for cliches, so I gave myself the go-ahead. Red, blue, fish... sheesh. lol
