Easy to please

There is someone at work who looks very much like Bra'tac. He even has the Van Dyck beard. Well, I guess he looks like Tony Amendola, as he doesn't actually wear robes or a little metal skullcap. He's a shortish, fairly tough-looking middle aged man, who would probably be totally confused if I gave into my impulse to give him a big grin. But it ( Read more... )

You should just give him the grin anyway. If he asks, you can just say, "I just got engaged!" and it's totally not a lie. :-)

Heh - okay, if it's not weird, I'll give him a grin. :)

Hmm. Is the scarf a gift? Can you give her the scarf sans fringe, with the offer to add it if she thinks she'd like it?

Hm... yes, I could do that - good idea. I might ask my mum, though - she knows my great-aunt's taste pretty well.

I saw a Bra'tac-alike last week!

Living where I do (geek central), I see a lot of Daniel-alikes.

Heh - maybe it IS Bra'tac, and he's here to collect all the Stargate fans! :D

lol

Does she know you're making her one? If she does, ask her? Or try to surreptitiously get it out of her?

No, she doesn't know. I'll ask my mum, she's got a good idea about my great-aunt (her aunt)'s taste.

i had to giggle about the bead fringe bit because i spent several hours (no lie) removing the bead fringe from an otherwise gorgeous burnt-out velvet scarf a very dear friend gave me for my birthday. the fringe was lovely but made the scarf nearly unuseable for more practical things like keeping warm. hee hee. it just got in the way. so i unpicked all the sewing and took it off! so, er, i guess that's my vote for keeping the beads off the scarf and in your hands...necklaces are always nice for those!

Hah! That's what I was afraid of. I'm inclined to leave it off, having thought about it - I think she'd find it more useful without. And the wool is very pretty all on its own.
