Dad: You need to schedule an allergy shot sometime this week, but not on Friday because I may need the car to pick up Adam from Truman.
Ashley: Well, I have a doctor's appointment on Friday.
D: A doctor's appointment? You didn't tell me about it. What doctor?
A: What doctor do you think?
D: Well I didn't know you had an appointment so I made one for you.
A: I know you did. Mom told me.
D: So how are you going to get to your appointment on Friday if I've got the car?
A: I probably won't even be going to the appointment on Friday.
D: You should have told me that you had an appointment. Now there's going to be a hassle about how you get there.
A: Dad! I'm probably not even going to that appointment on Friday!
D: Why not?
A: Why do you think?
D: I don't know!
A: I'll be on my period, Dad! How the hell is the doctor going to stick shit up there if I'm ragging?!?!
Dad goes outside to smoke a cigarette.
Mom, who has heard the whole thing, cracks up.
Mom: You were waiting to say something like that. I could tell. When he couldn't figure out why you wouldn't make the appointment, you wanting to say something like that. Did you enjoy that? Did you have fun?
Ashley: Yeah. That was pretty entertaining. I'll bet he's mad now though.
Mom: No, he's just embarrassed.
A few minutes later...
Mom: Dad's laughing.
Ashley: haha. Yeah. I thought it was funny too, Dad.
Dad: I never thought of that, Ashley. Thursday. We'll make Thursday the day for your allergy shot.
