Let's See...

I've never been great at the whole journal/blog thing, so we'll see how this goes.  I am going to make the attempt, though!  Probably just on weekends, however, as my office has dropped a big, fat filter on the 'net and I'm sort of lazy when I get home during the week.

Anyway, have I ever mentioned how I dislike people that don't make rational decisions?  There are about 5 different projects running in my office just now, and the program manager (the guy running my office) has decided that my group of 7 people needs to be running all of them.  And they're all due in the next week and a half, some of them on the same day.  So, basically, the rest of the office is getting to just coast while we work our asses off.  If there was a reason for this, I could deal, but the other groups in the office are perfectly capable of running some of these projects.  My supervisor says this is a good thing, because it means that the PM trusts us to get shit done.  I, privately (and here), say that this is the PM not paying fucking attention to the calendar and just doing whatever.  Ugh.

On happier news, the wife and I are going out with a realtor this afternoon to look at places.  Now, there's a bit of background to this.  Connected with all of this is a serious discussion of moving back to TN (and to Knoxville, particularly, at least at this stage of the discussion).  The trip this afternoon will serve to provide some clarity on what, exactly, $350-$400K will actually buy us up here.  Here's a hint for those of you not intimately familiar with the DC housing market: it'll probably be a fairly small townhouse with basically no yard.  Perhaps a larger condo, but those will have condo fees on top of the mortgage.  Depending on how we react to what we see today, the talks about moving back to TN will get a lot more serious.  Personally, that's my preference, but A's whole family is up here, so it'll be harder for her to move away without some soul searching.  More on this as events warrant.  Oh, and if any of you know of jobs in TN for a mechanical engineer with 5 years of HVAC QA experience or someone with a psychology BA with a couple of years as an executive assistant, let me know, please.
