Wow, what an unpredictable post! What motivated you to share a piece of work that mentions the spiritual world?
The whirling dervish dance sounds haunting and enchanting. How could anyone think music is "harmful to the listener and detrimental to religious life". Listening to music is such a peaceful, and sometimes spiritual, experience. Music helps me wipe away the cares of the day that build up over time.
I find it romantic that dervish means doorway. Doorways are captivating because they represent transitions.
I love than just because I don't adhere to standards set by other people and their religious beliefs, people are shocked when I comment on religious traditions. Is it so surprising that I can appreciate the beauty of a culture and its religious expression? I never condemned the archaic beauty (or current relevance of being "spiritual") of traditions of religion nor have I ever said that it should be wiped from the face of the earth. Some of the most impressive art and architecture ever created was done in the name of religion
