posted today an article about the possibility that the galaxy could be full of "earth-like" planets.
I was talking with
Mirawais a few days ago about UFOs, Alien civilizations and stuff, since we were watching a National Geographic show about that. I personally believe that UFOS can be real, I believe in the possibility of not only one, buy many civilizations much more advanced than ours, with a much advanced technology and knowledge of physics and the Universe.
So, ¿why aren't we openly contacted by this civilizations? ¿Why they don't share their knowledge with us?
I think if such civilizations exist, we're just being observed and studied. Like scientists observing species in the wild and keeping track of their behavior.
We humans believe that we're the greatest shit in the universe and there's no possibility that more intelligent creatures other than us could live out there. We're so selfish, that we officially created God, and established that this God created us, and he happens to look like us, or better said, we look like him.
I think our human nature is still very very primitive. We're making big discoveries in science, technology and all. But as species we still have a long way in order to understand ourselves. We just have too many errors, we're too greedy, too violent, too intolerant, too supersticious. We still behave like chimpanzees in many ways. Maybe we have a lot of potential to reach amazing levels of knowledge and develop technology that nowadays would be indistinguishable from magic... but for now, we, the human race, have many challenges here at home. Until we understand our responsibilities in this planet, the consequences of our actions and change them accordingly, until we manage to end the science-religion debate, until we can tolerate each other and take proper care of our planet and its resources, until we can respect ourselves and our neighbours, maybe then and only then, some other advanced form of intelligent life might stop by and say hi and trade business cards.
