I finally have a personalised page!
I spent all day mooching about, looking at other members pages and trying to work out how I could have a banner on my basic layout ....
It all seemed so confusing? What's embaressing is i make websites - and do layouts but generally code via frontpage, i can alter by hand bits and bobs but im not HTML wizz!
All the things I know for layouts involve frames and image maps and css and links....but this wasnt much help for LJ style layouts
So, change of plan - went to look for layouts that were free, available for editing and that I could understand and alter to suit what i wanted, thankfully I struck gold
I found some beautiful layouts on
premade_ljs and they seemed quite flexible about artistic licence on layouts. Obviously Ive a credit button on layout (i must handcode a link though....)
Anyway Im totally delighted as I can learn from the CSS and in future design my own, but we all need pointers and starters - after all - 5 years ago i didnt know what HTML was and hadnt the faintest idea how to use photoshop and look at me now! ( still a beginner LOL) but in relation to what I knew then - im proud of how far I've come - after all - i'm no spring chicken!!
