Smallville Season 7, Episode 14: Traveler

I really liked Clark's final scene with Lionel -- mainly because I liked what Clark said about the Luthors, and how it acknowledged a couple of truths about Lionel ever since knowing Clark's secret. It shows that knowing Clark's secret ultimately didn't make a difference in saving Lionel. Yes, Lionel, out of some warped since of protecting Clark, ( Read more... )

Lionel has always been good at coming up with plausible lies on the fly when he is confronted about something, and I was gratified that Clark wasn't buying it this time. I thought Clark showed tremendous maturity in that scene, and I loved it. And I so agree that Lex and Lionel seem to be changing places. I remember how Lionel used to toy with Lex in the earlier seasons, and seemed so completely untouchable. Now it's Lex who is the effective one. And as you say, JG was perfect.

I love your explanation of how Clark's statement to Kara last night and his assurances to Alexander in Fracture are compatible. That is well thought out, and it makes a lot of sense. Great analysis! And I wouldn't think Clark would want to appear ambivalent to Kara, I'm sure he wants her to stay as far away from Lex as possible.

That's a good point about how learning of the existence of Veritas would have an enormous impact on Clark, to realize an entire organization was formed based on someone's expectations about your potential. I liked how Patricia showed such unwavering confidence in him, although they had just met. I really wish she could have stayed around, at least for a little while.

Chloe was just completely made of win, as was AM's performance. Such an awesome scene. Of course her declaration was the highlight, but I also loved the look of pure joy on her face when things started to happen, and she realized she had been successful.

I loved reading this, you have a wonderful way of expressing your thoughts, and providing a unique insight into the episode. Thanks for posting!

To me, Lionel is usually a better, smoother liar than he was portrayed in this episode, and his lie to Chloe and Lana seemed way too obvious to me. Absolutely no one believed him in this episode. He's off his game, now.

Thanks. :) I just don't agree with the sentiment that Clark forgot what he learned in "Fracture". Unfortunately, Clark has deal with Lex's actions, and him defending Lex to Kara would've seemed totally out of place considering he was getting ready to have her brain operated on mainly to benefit himself.

I wanted Patricia to stay alive so badly. Of course, that must mean that she's a goner.

That was awesome. She did so well throughout the entire episode.
