So I was watching "Reckoning" this morning, and I know a lot of people don't like the episode (and I've actually seen some refer to it as one of the worst episodes ever). And well, it had me thinking about some of the more controversial episodes of the show. Like, even though it suffers from some writing problems, I think Reckoning is definitely a well acted and directed episode. Therefore, I have a really hard time labeling it "a bad episode" or "worst episode ever". So I guess what I'm asking is, what does it take for you to label an episode "worst episode ever" or even just "plain bad"? Does the writing, acting, and directing all have to suck? Or can one of those factors being bad be enough? And what episodes would be an example of that? And on the opposite token, what does it take for an episode to be labeled "best episode ever" to you? Does all three (acting, writing, directing) have to be the best? Or can one of those factors being so good completely cancel out the other two? Cause me personally, I tend to think that mediocre writing can be saved by good acting (but Promise is a rare exception to this). Which one is more important to you?
