I'm sorry to announce that this may be my final hat posting till October...
While I feel there no one in the ill state of Ill. that despises lil' Mayor Blagojevich (remember, I call him Mayor out of disrespect because the rotten piece of decayed phloem refuses to move to and do state business in our state's capital) more than me, I support Roland Burris being allowed into the Senate for these reasons:
1) He's an honorable man who has high credentials & qualifications and he's been known to have a bi-partisan attitude.
2) He has many years of public service to the state and is from downstate Illinois, not from Chicago.
and most importantly:
3) He was picked by Gov. Pottymouth only because the dishonorable slice of moldy cheese got caught auctioning off the seat, then claimed innocence and in his defense of his innocence, sought out the cleanest and most scandal-free candidate he could find in order to help his case.
For these reasons us citizens of Ill. and the other citizens of the U.S. can rest assured that he's one of the best people for this job.
Factors not involved in my decision to support Burris are:
1) the fact that he's African-American. It is ludicrous to assume that because Barrack Obama is black that the successor to his seat should also be black. While it would be great to see more diversity in the Senate, it is ultimately the concern for finding the best person for the job regardless of race or gender. And if there is only going to be one African-American in the Senate, I would venture to guess that 99% of the population would prefer he not get there under the suspicion of illegal goings on with our idiot jack-tard of a governor!! Roland Burris himself echoes this sentiment. Bobby Rush should be ashamed of himself for his cheap theatrics and playing of the race card to make an already unpleasant situation even worse. While I respect Rush's passion for better race relations, I find his comments on this issue to be utterly despicable. I can't believe Barrack Obama once lost to that guy!!
2) His age is not an issue. He's 71 and heading to a Senate where the average age is 67. John McCain is 72. There's been a long history of politicians who served into their 80s & 90s.
Senator-Apparent Burris may get a belated Christmas gift this year!
