Over the weekend, I attended a conference in memory of my teacher and dear friend, Charles Chastain. Charles was a true talking philosopher, unbelievably generous with his time and attention, and interested in absolutely everything. The conference was a day Charles would have loved, with good conference papers and much good conversation. The dinner at Phoenix Restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown was very good, the conversation at dinner was animated. We honored Charles's memory by having a Chastainish day, and by telling Chastain stories. Now I know one way to honor the memory of someone who has died.
