Ling is snoring horrendously, Lanfan sprawled over his chest, and Greed pulls the covers back over them with a little sigh. Whether it's deliberate artifice on their part or just evidence of superior ability, he's always the first one to hear Nuan fussing.
Her face is an unsightly pinkish colour when he leans into the crib and he heaves her up, patting her back.
"Easy, darling," he whispers, settling her in his arms. "Do you want Daddy to tell a story?"
Nuan makes a muffled noise. When he looks down her tiny eyes crinkle closed and her smile is infectious.
