Teeth: Science Fiction

The flowers tasted different this morning, she mused as she picked up the delicate iris-like structure and nibbled on it daintily., careful to not to show her teeth. The natives still found the omnivorous teeth of humans severely unsettling, since they eliminated all carnivores and omnivores on their own planet centuries ago. Children were still told that if they didn’t sip their flowers and sleep on the grass, the gnashly-toothed Snickergrind would come and eat them with its wicked sharp teeth and its ravenous hunger for flesh. Flowers alone could not sustain the diplomat, of course, but she had pills and nutrient packs, and she'd gone through a course of hypnotherapy before coming to her posting to make that more tolerable. Sometimes she dreamed of a lovely steak and a pile of mashed potatoes--or even of a real, chunky salad with bits of broccoli and green beans and other things that one could really *bite* into.

Inspiration: The flowery taste of my morning tea.
Story Potential: Medium potential
Notes: Lots of lovely culture clash potential here, though. Side note: I find the inverse relationship between the quality of these posts and the amount of writing I've gotten done recently fascinating!
