OMG. Words cannot describe how much I love this fic.

The beginning was so hot, and then the tension when Shelby caught them was spot-on. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Somehow you managed to make the union suit not so ridiculous, I think that's something to be proud of :))
Oh poor Mrs. Berry, I was wondering about Rachel's dads! I really hope Puck will listen to her advice.

Thank you! It's the kind of ridiculous thing that I get stuck on and then I can't not do it. I did truly insane amounts of research in order to wrap my brain around this, so I'm glad someone appreciates my effort :)

I love the atmosphere of this fic but I'm a little confused about something: how come Shelby thinks Noah is only marrying Rachel for respectablity, and has no clue about Beth? Is she adopting Beth without knowing who her parents are, and Puck just managed to trace her without Shelby knowing? Or am I misunderstanding/forgetting something about the family links in this verse? :)

No, you've got it right.

I never spelled it out, but in this verse Quinn's parents got her shipped away somewhere and gave away Beth without Puck's knowledge or consent. Puck doesn't have much in the way of legal rights in this situation. This is decades before paternity tests, and unwed biological fathers aren't exactly well protected even now.

However, adoption records were less sealed and secret before the 30's, so he got some of his connections to track her down and went to find her. Puck and Rachel didn't know each other before that, but Puck weighed his options (including trying to seduce Shelby, but in this verse she's married to Rachel's dad) and decided she was his best chance to stay close to Beth.

Quinn never named a father on any of the paperwork, so Shelby has no idea.
