Tonight marks the second time my cat has been faced with the choice between two pieces of bacon and a bowl of greens side by side -- and chosen to steal lettuce.

note: after watching all of SG-1 and much of SGA, my sister's favorite line remains the throwaway bacon line uttered by the canon fodder marines at the beginning of SGA's The Storm. It ( Read more... )

My cat has been known to snub raw chicken for... sliced strawberries.

Yea, verily, he has even gone digging through the trash for some strawberry tops that were in there. NOT EVEN MY DOG DIGS IN THE TRASH.

My son and your sister. Sheesh, at least they aren't all worked up over Spam... or scrapple...
And my cat keeps trying to shove his snoot in my Guinness. Apparently it's more tantalizing than mine hubby's stinky sneakers. ;)

At work the other day, I was chatting with a pair of customers, one from NZ, the other from South Africa. We were discussing exotic chocolates.

Me: --and there's this awesome dark chocolate bar with bacon in it--
NZ: Ugh!
Soufrican: Yeah, terrible!
Me: ...but bacon makes everything better.
Soufrican: Like what?
Me: Burgers.
NZ: God, that's so American of you.
Soufrican: Exactly.

My only answer: then I am proud to be American. Because there's almost nothing that is not improved by bacon.

That...was supposed to end with "so maybe your cat is from New Zealand," but I accidentally hit "post comment" instead of clicking on the final line. And now I want bacon. It's lose-lose tonight, man.

Also salads! Bacon on salads = brilliant plan. Or penne carbonara, though that is maybe more Canadian bacon leaning.

My mother, who never watched more than about 15 minutes of SGA, also knows that line, and we use it frequently in our house. My little brother has declared he will someday eat a meal that is entirely foods that make other foods worth eating: bacon, avocado, sour cream... but mostly bacon.

Haha, nice. Also, those are my foods worth eating too! Your brother is clearly a good kid.
