Hmmm

Louise Park of the PF has emailed me to say that Sandy's license has actually been renewed, that gay marriage is still illegal and that it is (only) for that reason that she cannot allow her to marry the couple.

My response to them:

She can perform a non-legally binding 'marriage/handfasting' ceremony. But couldn't she do that anyway?
This is all too confusing and unfair. Maybe she could apply to be able to perform civil ceremonies as well as religious ones. Or maybe not. I know very little about the legal aspects of weddings.
I'm just glad that they've renewed her license.

Yes, she could have done this, and we'd encourage her to do this. What she couldn't do, and what everyone said we were stopping her from doing was performing a legal gay wedding. These are, and always have been, illegal in Scotland (though I hope this may change in years to come).

All our celebrants licenses were renewed, plus a few new ones granted. The story that someone's had been withdrawn is and remains a complete lie fed by someone who is a dishonourable, malicious liar who seeks only to damage any good work that is done by the PF in Scotland. That person knows exactly who they are.

Applying to do civil ceremonies would make no difference as the religious ceremony would still have to be completely separate. I also don't know if there are rules that prevent a religious approved celebrant becoming a registrar or vice versa - I would have to check on that. But it remains that you would have the same problem - the celebrant would have to perform their civil partnership (in registrar hat) then go somewhere else to perform their religious ceremony completely separately.

I hope all of you will read my update on the marriage/civil partnership law that is currently floating about in dozens of places on the web. It sets out very clearly exactly what we can and can't do. There is also a very good explanation of civil partnership at the GRO website www.gro-scotland.gov.uk which it might be useful for you all to read.

Blessings,
Louise Park

You are implying that Sandy is "a dishonourable, malicious liar" as she was the person who told me that and she got the information from whoever is in charge. Does this mean that the person who is at the top of the PF is "a dishonourable, malicious liar?"

I don't know where any of these sites are and to be honest after the way Sandy has been been treated by most of you I really do not want to join the PF. Some of the things other people have told me re-enforce this decision. Can't remember the names of the people who have said these things but even if I could I wouldn't tell you. I don't tell tales or spread malicious rumours. Not that I think that you were talking about me in any of your other replies.

There's almost nothing that you could do or say to make me change my mind. If you could teach how to levitate objects with the "Wingardium Leviosa" charm I might be tempted to join. Broomsticks that really fly would also be good. What are the chances of this happening?
