I am so sorry to hear about how rough the last year has been for you, and I am very sorry for your terrible loss. I am so glad that you found this wonderful group of people, I can attest to the fact that they are tremendously supportive and fabulous people.
This has been a tumultuous time for me as well, although, thank Prosperina, I have had no deaths to face this year.
I have a truly evil X, whom I was lucky enough to escape after 14 years of what can only be described as domestic terrorism. Two of my kids are out (Son 21, and Son 15), the third (12) is still there. His target just seems to move down as each of us manage to leave. Really it's very sad, and I will feel somewhat sorry for X..., once all of my boys are out of harm's way.
I fell into this comm almost by accident, following your path almost exactly. Astrolat was my intro author, and the rest is history.
After being in fandoms off & on since 1978, this is the first one I have really been active in. It started off as a good distraction, and has become a major source of friendship and comfort in my life, and I feel I am blessed in making true friends here.
I agree with Jehane, we older women (my favourite kind!) need to stick together:-)
