I’m a HUGE Radiohead fan (I’ve seen them live three times, most recently in June 2012). I also love Madonna (saw her in September 2012). Some of my other favourites include David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Cut Copy, Lifelike, Deadmau5, Echo and the Bunnymen, Gotye, Thievery Corporation, The Arkells, The Smiths, Swell Season, Jack White, The Black Keys, Gorillaz, Ben Folds, Zero 7, Fitz and the Tantrums, Foster the People, Adele, Oasis, Blur, anything 80s, etc.
TV:
I am a bit of a TV addict. I love Coronation Street, Sex and the City, Big Bang Theory, Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol, Firefly, Vampire Diaries, True Blood, SNL, X-Files, Downton Abbey, and random guilty pleasure shows on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network).
Movies:
Some of my favourites include The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Trainspotting, The Hurt Locker, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Casino Royale, The Trotsky, Once, Kissing Jessica Stein, Juno, The Devil Wears Prada, Gone with the Wind, Atonement, documentaries, anything with Ben Whishaw, etc. I don’t like horror movies.
Books:
I read anything that catches my attention. Lately my favourite authors are Lisa Appignanesi and Martha Schabas.

How long are your letters? Usually 2+ pages.
Handwritten or typed? Handwritten 100%
How long does it take you to reply to a letter? That depends. If I'm in the mood and I have the time I might reply the same day. If life gets busy it can sometimes take a month or so. A monthly letter exchange would suit me just fine.
Do you prefer male or female? Female only, please.

What are you looking for in a penpal?
They say that the fastest growing demographic in North America is the single person household (aka MY household). I'm looking to connect with people like me: 30-something working women who are single (either by choice or circumstance), independent and are not interested in having kids. I want to learn other people’s perspectives on things like:

- cooking for one
- trying to have a social life with friends who are all couples
- how it feels to be surrounded by co-workers and friends who are all either getting married or having babies
- searching for identity in a family-centric society (even grocery store coupons that offer savings for buying in bulk are geared towards multi-person households)
- horror stories/adventures in online dating
- the financial concerns of a one-income household (mortgage payments, rent payments, vet bills, etc.)
- being single in the workplace (doing overtime, no kids to fetch from daycare and no maternity leave)
- going on vacation solo
- coping mechanisms for couple-centric holidays like Valentines and New Years, etc.
