Hi. I posted an 'ad' here quite a while back, and got a few penpals from it. However, due to real life suckiness, I lost contact with them all. Sorry if you were one of those three people. If you'd like to write to me again, I certainly won't say no. Otherwise, here's my new, updated post.
Name: Sinead
Age: 21
Birthday: September 25
Location: Perth, Australia
Occupation: Customer service
Language: English
Tattoos/Piercings: Ears pierced twice each. I’d like two tattoos, but can’t afford them and haven’t finished designing them yet anyway.
Orientation: I used to consider myself straight, but have lately been thinking I may actually be hetero-romantic asexual.
Relationship status: Perpetually single.
Religious views: Agnostic, and accepting of all faiths.
About me: I tend to love things intensely, and as such can’t handle being fully involved with too many fandoms or people at once. I enjoy writing a lot, I ship slash (m/m or f/f) pairings almost exclusively, I am obsessed with going to live comedy shows (I have probably seen about 300 shows since I went to my first one in 2005), I adore music, I buy books infinitely faster than I read them, I like wearing vintage dresses, I frequently spend too much money, I follow ATP tennis (especially Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal), I yearn to travel and I tend to develop crushes on older, usually unavailable men.
Music: The Mountain Goats, Basement Birds and Mumford & Sons, Okkervil River, The White Stripes, etc. I also love lots of Australian music such as Gotye, Eskimo Joe, Bob Evans, Josh Pyke, The Basics and Darren Hanlon. Add to that some older stuff like The Beatles, David Bowie, Queen and Leonard Cohen, times these artists by a hundred, and then assume that if the band you’re thinking of is any sort of indie pop, rock or folk I’ll very probably love it, even if I haven’t heard it before. I also adore musical comedy. Think Tim Minchin, Tripod, etc.
Books: I don’t read as much as I should, especially considering how many books I buy. Some favourites, however, are Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Wildwood and the Harry Potter series. I love the works of Walter Moers, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Lemony Snickett and Mark Watson, among many others. If you have an interesting and/or quirky book recommendation, even if you don’t want to be penpals, please do let me know!
Movies: I like quirky films, mostly. Wes Anderson’s stuff is a good example. The Avengers is my favourite film right now though - I actually saw it 6 times in the cinema, and have watched the DVD twice since it came out on August 28th. Other favourites include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, Being John Malkovich, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes movies, Pixar films, and most other Disney stuff.
TV: Community, BBC Sherlock, Doctor Who, Buffy, Firefly, Black Books, Friends and Scrubs, just to name a very select few. I watch far too much TV, and buy most of what I like on DVD too.
Penpal Info
How many penpals do you have? None.
How many do you want? 1-3
Do you want email pals? Not exclusively.
Do you want snail mail pals? Yep!
How long are your letters? Two pages or longer, depending on what’s being discussed.
How long does it take you to reply to a letter? Usually it takes no more than 4 or 5 days. But of course that depends on how busy my life is at the time.
Would you like your penpal to be male or female? Either.
Age? Preferably 18+.
Where would you like them to be from? Anywhere is fine by me! An Australian penpal who might even like to meet one day would be sweet, but that’s not really important.
What are you looking for in a penpal? Someone who would like to discuss fandoms, sexuality, writing, real life problems and celebrations, and maybe swap art, poetry/prose and various other goodies.
