Yay new friends!

Name: Rachel
Age: Soon-to-be 22.
Gender: Female
Location: USA
Occupation: None.
Languages: English and a bit of Spanish.
Religious View: Agnostic
Orientation: Bi-romantic asexual

About me: Hi, I'm Rachel. I am a born-and-raised Oregonian (not Portland). I love learning about cultures, languages, and the experiences of others. I'm also a WWII nerd. Currently, I am not enrolled in school for financial and personal reasons. Within the next month or so I will hopefully be going to work in clerical via Vocational Rehabilitation. I do struggle with ADHD, depression, and anxiety, so if any of this puts you off then let me know.

Interests/Hobbies: Writing (though I suck at it), movies, WWII, cultures, languages, photography, anything to do with aliens, reading when I can bring myself to sit for that long, writing essays and metas, etc...

Music: I think the chances are good that I like at least one song from every genre. Some of my favorite artists are The Fray, Nirvana, Green Day, Creedence Clearwater Revival (for years my dad told me his family lived right behind a band when he was a kid. Turned out he was talking about John Fogerty.), Ingrid Michaelson, Augustana, TLC, Christina Perri, Madonna, Rufus Wainwright, Britney Spears (IDGAF), Letters To Cleo, The Lonely Island, Banda Machos, Paramore, Placebo, LMFAO, etc...

Movies: My movie tastes are all over the place. Some favorites are Pirates of the Carribean (Sparrabeth ftw!), Memoirs of a Geisha, A Little Princes, Secret Garden, American Beauty, The Pianist, Schindler's List, Cruel Intentions, The craft (lawl90s), Foxfire (campy angry feminist movie w/ lesbian Angelina Jolie? YES PLEASE), The Breakfast Club, Titanic, Shawshank Redemption, The Bourne Trilogy, Easy A, 28 Days Later (zombies not Sandra Bullock), G.I. Jane, Diary of Anne Frank, etc...

Books: I'll admit I haven't read many books. With attention and anxiety issues, sitting down long enough to get through something takes a lot of effort. There have been some, though! I love Memoirs of a Geisha (much better than the movie, IMO), A Geisha by Mineko Iwasaki (I'm a bit of a geisha nerd too. Oddly enough, I have no interest in modern Japanese culture..), Back Roads by Tawni O'Dell, The Hunger Games (on the second book now!), Night by Elie Wiesel, and Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.

TV: I much prefer television over movies since I feel I can connect more with characters over a longer period of time rather than 2-9 hours. Anyways, some of my favorites include Supernatural (though it's been a love/hate thing since S4), United States of Tara, Battlestar Galactica, Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, Twilight Zone, Unsolved Mysteries, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Big Bang Theory, Cupcake Wars, Chopped, Roseanne, Dexter, Star Trek: TOS, Veronica Mars, WWII in HD, Through The Wormhole, pretty much any documentary on evolution and/or dinosaurs, and Downton Abbey.

How many penpals do you have? 2
How many penpals do you want? Perhaps two or three more.
Do you want LJ-friends? Sure! I update sporadically.
Do you want email pals? This is preferred but I'll do snail mail if that's what you prefer.
Do you want snail mail pals? I will if that's what you want.
How long are your letters? That depends on how long the letter I'm responding to is. It can be anywhere from 2-5 pages, if not more.
Do you handwrite or type? I'd prefer to type due to carpal tunnel but I can handwrite too (just be warned, it really sucks).
Reply time? It can take anywhere from a few days to a month. It depends on how long the letter is and what's going on in my life. Plus I procrastinate like nobody else. But I will get back to you, I promise!
Where would you like them to be from? Anywhere. I'm not picky.
Age preference? Anywhere between 19-25 as I feel I relate more with people in that demographic than any other.
What are you looking for in a penpal? I would like someone who shares at least some of my interests and who is patient, open-minded, has a sense of humor, and who I can talk about anything and everything with. Basically, I am looking for a good friend. I need more of those.

age: 20-25, any gender, snail mail, looking for: any location, any location, email, location: any
