Name: Nikki
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Languages: English (though when I start taking French again, I'd love someone I could practice my French with!)
About me: I am: an eternal college student, born and raised in North Carolina. Studying biology and planning to move to Michigan in August to finish up my degree in microbiology. I'm a Gemini, an INFJ, politically left-leaning, spiritually unconventional, softhearted in the extreme insatiably curious, and a smartass. I've spent the last five summers working as a glorified art teacher in a summer camp setting, where letter-writing is a legitimate thing that we do...because our internet access is decidedly limited (imagine that, limited internet when you're out in the woods somewhere!).
Interests/Hobbies: Reading, writing, art, music (I sing soprano, and I want to learn to play the violin), science, social justice, hockey, history, cooking, gardening, camping.
Music: I tend to be a little obsessive about music, and listing every artist or band that's ever stolen my heart would take a while. So I'll just list what's currently on my phone: 30 Seconds to Mars, Balligomingo, Boards of Canada, BT, Chicane, Citizen Cope, Darren Hayes, Dave Brubeck, Death Cab for Cutie, Delta Goodrem, Edwina Hayes, Gaelic Storm, Gui Boratto, Lady Gaga, Leahy, Mika, Porcupine Tree, S.J. Tucker, Sleepthief, and Vienna Teng.
Movies: Fly Away Home, Miracle, Secret of Roan Inish, Bright Star, The Secret Garden, Chronicles of Narnia, Pride and Prejudice, the Young Victoria, Love Actually, Stranger than Fiction, Monsoon Wedding, Beauty and the Beast...the list goes on. I like movies.
Books: Basically, if it's fiction and it's in a language I can read, I will at least consider it. Nonfiction is mostly of the biological variety, with occasional historical texts thrown in.
TV: HOCKEY. Chopped, Iron Chef/Iron Chef America, Once Upon A Time, Grimm, Worst Cooks in America, sometimes House, stand-up comedy.
How many penpals do you have? None, currently, though I do have 2-3 friends that write me faithfully every summer when I'm working at camp.
How many penpals do you want? A few.
Do you want LJ-friends? Sure!
Do you want email pals? Yes, I've had some really great experiences with email pals.
Do you want snail mail pals? Sure. Let's exchange a few emails and then see if we're both cool being snail mail pals.
How long are your letters? A minimum of one page, often more. I can natter on for quite a while. :)
Do you handwrite or type? If sending an actual letter, it's handwritten and on pretty stationary.
Reply time? Depends on when I get it. Usually within 3-4 days max.
Would you like your penpal to be male or female? Either.
Where would you like them to be from? Anywhere.
Age preference? Any, really, but especially between 20-30.
What are you looking for in a penpal? A friend! Someone with a sense of humor, someone who likes to ponder and to giggle all at the same time.
