Name: Sophia!
Age: just turned 19
Gender: female
Orientation: straight
Location: at school in Colorado, originally from Texas
Occupation: uni student
Language: English, learning Russian
Relationship status: single (and happy!)
About me: I'm a current uni student (freshman) with a love for most things in life. Right now I'm majoring in English, Anthropology and Sociology, but I may drop Anthro & Soc in exchange for Biology. I love learning new things and exploring areas and fields I've never delved into before. I am both very social and very down-to-earth. I make friends very easily because it's hard for me to find something (a topic, an interest, a hobby) I don't like on some level. I love talking! If I could, I would get a PhD in reading, and show off my expansive library as proof of my experience in the field. My thoughts are all over the place. Science is my second love in life (the first being writing writing writing!). I am ridiculously optimistic and happy 99% of the time because I hate the feeling of being sad, and get over it quickly. And I would love to meet you!
Interests: writing, reading, learning, kayaking, Netflix, that iphone game 'temple run' (seriously check it out), obscure grammar rules and facts, working, people, board games my family never wants to play, clothes!!/shopping, geography, foreign currency, staying up all night doing nothing, flights, people-watching, being a terrible dancer but embarrassing my friends anyway, wikipedia binges
Music: I think I listen to a bit of everything. Right now, however, I will admit I am on a bit of a boy band kick (judge away, the music is cute). I probably listen to indie mostly, though? Indie and Kanye West. But I am open to pretty much all kinds of music. Top 8 artists on my last.fm = Kanye, One Direction, The Hush Sound, Los Campesinos!, Franz Ferdinand, Tally Hall, The Throne, Gaga. My last.fm is
here. All of my friends tell me I make pretty killer mix cds!
Books: I am a registered bibliophile. I will read mostly anything as well, though I tend to stray from historical fiction and fantasy-that's-too-much-fantasy (for example: I enjoy ASOIAF and LOTR books, but I don't think I could ever read a Tamora Pierce book... it's hard to explain). I also read several books at a time, and have been known to drop a bill at the bookstore with no problem. Currently reading: A Clash of Kings, Everything is Illuminated, Requiem for a Dream, Outlander, A Time to Kill, probably some other ones... My goodreads account is
here.
Movies: Favourites include: The Shawshank Redemption, American History X and The Adventures of Milo and Otis. If it's on Netflix, I'll watch it. I'm mostly meh on musicals, but everything else is fair game. I recently saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and it was fantastic.
Television: I've gotten into a lot of shows, but lately I've been trying to catch up on most of them. I enjoy television, but there are probably a million other things I would rather do than watch it (please note: this is not a diss towards those that really like telly!). So sometimes I'll get into a telly kick and mainline shows like there's no tomorrow, but sometimes the only television I watch all week is the 6 o'clock showing of Jeopardy my roommate watches every day. That said, have some shows: Parks & Rec, Shameless, Game of Thrones, Pawn Stars, nat geo wild, ridiculous TLC shows, Doctor Who!!, Skins, Sherlock, Once Upon a Time, food network, The Walking Dead, etc.!!
Pen pal things
How many pen pals do you have? Currently none, unless you count writing to my best friends at different universities!
How many do you want? However many will have me! Writing letters is pretty much one of my favourite things to do, and I have a pretty great collection of stationary.
Do you want email pals? Meh, not really. Unless you can deal with my distinct lack of punctuation and disregard for all rules of English grammar.
Do you want snail-mail pen pals? Yes yes yes!
How long are your letters? Definitely depends on what we're talking about, how much time I have to write it, etc. Usually I'll start my letters in some sort of stationary and then continue on lined paper.
How long does it take you to reply to a letter? I usually reply as soon as I can! I use writing letters as an excuse to not do my coursework. Probably 5 days maximum.
Would you like your pen pal to be male or female? Doesn't matter to me!
Age? I would like someone around my age, maybe 16 - mid twenties? But if you want to talk, I want to listen!
What are you looking for in a pen pal? I am looking for someone who is completely different from me. Or someone who is completely the same. I want us to click, and I want us to disagree (respectfully). I want to learn from them and I would hope they could learn from me!
Where would you like them to be from? Anywhere! You'll just have to help me with figuring out how much postage to put on the envelope!
TL;DR: I'm a really cool person and I tend to talk a lot and ramble (as you can see from my ridiculous info up there) but I'm probably interested in at least 75% of the things you like, and if not, it doesn't take long for me to get into new things!
If you're interested, you can comment below, PM me, send smoke signals, whatever works best!
