About Me:
I'm an average person with a lot going on. I'm in the midst of a giant life transition; I just moved away from my home city of Atlanta, Georgia for the first time and am pursuing a life that makes me happy rather than just getting by on what was handed to me. I have been married, owned a house, held a full time job as a movie theatre manager, tried to have kids, "mothered" three dogs and two cats, and lost it all. I've been busting my ass trying to get things turned around. My life as I knew it is over, but the new one's been looking pretty good :)
TV: I really like *good* paranormal shows. Otherwise some of my favorites are It's Always Sunny in Philadelpia, How I Met Your Mother, the Office, Breaking Bad, Archer, So You Think You Can Dance, Intervention, Hoarders, Obsessed, South Park, Family Guy...so basically my TV tastes range from silly to depressing. I never realized that until I wrote it out, hehe.
Films: I mostly like comedies, specifically Judd Apatow and friends' style. Some specifics are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Princess Bride, Little Children, Wet Hot American Summer, Anchorman, V for Vendetta, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Garden State, When Harry Met Sally, Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters, Juno, Across the Universe
Music: Honestly, a lot of what comes on the Top 40-style stations pop, rock and hip-hop-wise are okay with me. Otherwise my tastes vary from the pop-punk stuff I listened to in high school to the more credible indy-style artists like The Mountain Goats to singer-songwriters like Jack Johnson. My favorite band ever is the Beatles.
Books: I don't read nearly as much as I'd like. Most recently I've been reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I like fantasy, specifically series, but I don't buy into the whole vampire fad. I just like that series. I'm a fan of Chuck Palahniuk, of course the Harry Potter series, and the Golden Compass Series (His Dark Materials).
Pen Pal Information:
How many pen pals do you have? I just started with one.
How many pen pals do you want? I don't mind juggling a few, but I think more than 3 or maybe 4 would just get to be too much.
E-Mail or Snail Mail? Snail mail. Email will feel more like chatting to me.
How long are your letters? Usually a few pages.
How long does it take you to reply to a letter? I get a lot of free time at work, so I don't see why it would take me more than a couple of days.
Handwritten or typed? Expect both. Especially at the beginning I might have a lot to write and my thoughts will be too scattered for handwritten, though I do prefer writing by hand in general. I promise the effort will be made. Feel free to write how you please.
Gender Preference? I tend to relate to and understand girls much better than guys, but I'm open-minded.
Age preference? 20s.
Where in the World? Preferably US. I don't know that I can commit to the expense of sending letters out of the country, but again I'm open-minded to the UK or Canada or something.
What are you looking for in a penpal? Someone to be honest and open with and vice versa. Someone to have discussions with in print. Someone to share trivial life stories with. Fun stuff :D
