Saturday Carlette and I drove to Cleveland on Saturday to see They Might Be Giants!
On the first leg of the trip I was sooo tired. I was closing my eyes extra long, thinking "Just a few seconds...just a few more seconds." Bad sign for the start of a three and a half hour trip. Fortunately we stoped in Columbus for caffeine and chocolate, and I felt much better!
Carlette's boyfriend Nick loaned us his GPS unit, named Janine, and we used her to find dinner. First we found Grandpa's Cheesebarn...
But sadly, it was closed.
...which was disappointing because we really wanted some barn cheese.
We decided to go to Romano's Macaroni Grill for dinner. Oh, you can grill macaroni. You can grill anything if you put your mind to it.
Carlette doesn't know what to order.
We got some crayons and immortalized our paper tablecloth.
(The location of Lake Erie was determined by the puddle left by my glass of pop)
I made sure that Carlette got some birthday cake.
Janine helped us find our way to the venue (shut up, Janine). On the way we saw Lake Erie, which caused me to squee and take my eyes off the road for dangerous lengths of time. I love bodies of water ^_^
I had tried to time our arrival so that we'd arrive around 9:15. The doors opened at 8, and the show was supposed to start at 9, but the opening act was Corn Mo. To say I do not care for Corn Mo would be an understatement. Let me put it this way, my ex Eric likes Corn Mo. I believe that says it all. So we were trying to time our arrival to miss most of Corn Mo, but when we got there he hadn't even started yet :-\ He didn't come on until around 9:30 and wasn't done until after 10.
TMBG didn't come on until nearly 11. They played one song ("I'm Impressed") and then left. Which left us all going...wtf? About 10 minutes later some crew guy comes on and says they blew a fuse, and they didn't have another one. At this point we're going, "We drove nearly four hours, you fuckers are NOT cancelling!". Fortunately They didn't. They DID come out and play an acoustic set, which was made of about 400 different kinds of awesome.

The lighting is bad because - did I mention? - a fuse was blown.

Another 10-15 minutes go by, and they finally get it fixed and return to the stage!! OMGYAYZ!
The show was awesome, with much squee-ing and dancing and screaming. Unfortunately some asshole tried to bring us down at the beginning of the show by violently moshing right up next to us. He shoved me and stepped on Carlette's foot. He tried to talk to us during the blackout, but I was like, no dude, you don't come back from that, and I told him to fuck off.
He later went to get a drink and asked if Carlette or I wanted anything. I told him no, but if he hit me again I was going to treat it as assault and defend myself. Yeah, sure I want a drink from you. Extra roofies, please!
So that was the low point of the show, but the rest was HIGHS, HIGHS, HIGHS!!
Afterwards I snagged a set list from one of the sound guys as a birthday present for Carlette.
