Yesterday I went to Columbus and saw Wicked for the last time this year :-(

I tried to win tickets in the lottery for the 6:30pm show, but I was unsuccessful.

The show was fantastic as always, but it had kind of a different vibe because of the cast. I knew Glinda would be played by an understudy because Christina Decicco had said last Sunday that she would be on vacation all this week. The understudy did not portray the character of Glinda as well as Christina had, in my opinion. She had the pipes; her singing was fantastic and she hit every note. But Christina really embodied the character, whereas this understudy seemed like just a poor imitation; she was going through the moves, but something was lacking.

I never got to see the "real" Elphaba. Last week I saw the standby twice (she ROCKED IT) and yesterday was an understudy, Marcie Dodd. She was good, and she put her own interpretations into the songs. I didn't think she was quite despondant enough during "I'm Not That Girl," instead she seemed almost chipper about it.

Fiyero was played by Cliffton Hall, the regular actor for the role. He was much better than the guy I saw last week, but still not my favorite Fiyero.

I bought The Grimmerie. It was expensive, but dammit I wanted it. It's so pretty!

So I've now seen the show four times total. I hope to see it at least three more times when it comes to Cincinnati in January!
