and now, this news flash ...

Without offering useless excuses, I'm updating, finally. The past couple of months have gone by pretty quickly, which is nice because I'm so ready for summer. We had the End-of-Course state test last week, and I think the students did really well. Most of the questions were either something they could handle or something they could figure out with what we've gone over in class. We've got about five weeks left, but with AP testing and finals and seniors leaving early, it's going to fly by.

The biggest news is that I decided to stay one more year, while Bill is finishing his second year. He isn't the only reason I decided to stay, but he's the biggest reason. We're getting all new math textbooks next year, and even though I'm not happy with the publisher we went with, I am excited about all the resources we'll be receiving. It will be a really huge opportunity to develop the course and leave something for the next teacher(s). I also have a kick-ass honors freshman group who will be taking honors geometry with me, and I think that they have the potential to be amazing next year. I have so many ideas that I didn't follow through with this year that if I left now I think I would regret it, and I would feel that I didn't do everything that I could.

Bill and I decided that it would make more sense to live in Marianna, so we recently signed a one-year lease for a really cute two-bedroom house right around the corner from the high school. The commute will be so much easier and cheaper, and when Bill has late football practices he won't have to drive half an hour. I'm so excited, it should be so much better for both of us.

Other than that, not much has happened since Spring Break. Spring Break was ... interesting. Bill and I decided to go out to New Mexico to visit his grandparents' ranch. While we were driving out there it poured rain. On the other side of Dallas the truck hydroplaned and we rear-ended a car in front of us. The truck had to stay in Forth Worth to get fixed, and I went to the hospital because my head hurt. I was fine and we rented a car to get to New Mexico. It was a rough start, but it ended up okay.

That's about it down here. Bill and I are coming up to the Boston area around July 4th, and we'll be in southeastern Texas before that, but other than that our summer is pretty calm. I'm not going to promise an update soon, but I'll try to make it soon. If anything interesting happens :-)
