For once, I actually agree with an article from the
Oregon Daily Emerald -- what the fuck is up with our ticket release system at this school?
Somehow, students are expected to make a three to four hour physical commitment to stand in line for tickets, starting at 8 AM on Monday morning. And even though all 20,000 students pay for their tickets with incidental fees, only 5700 are released to students. Tickets to the UCLA game were completely sold out by 4 PM, right when my final class of the day ended. I tried standing in line at 9:30 that morning but, after moving a few feet in thirty minutes, realized there was no way to get my ticket and still catch my 10:30 bus to my 11:00 German test.
The most frustrating thing is that most of these tickets go to the 3000-person freshman class, who live on campus and, by and large, have the most accommodating fall schedules for line standing. There's senior priority for course registration -- why not do the same with tickets? And anyway, most major universities (especially those with PAC-10 teams) release tickets online or present them to students at registration. As a wise man once said, "Why are you such cave men in Oregon?"
