With my mind on my money and my money on my mind.

I ran/jogged/speedwalked twenty minutes on a treadmill today. I sweated more than I probably have in two years. It was fairly sucessful -- about a mile and only minor side cramps. My calorie counter was way broken though and said that I worked off a grand total of 16 calories the whole time... so that sucked.

My classes are pretty vanilla this term. Some of the people in my German 201 class are incredibly and particularly Not Bright, and our teacher, Konrad, seems less than pleased with this development. However, although he insists on speaking almost entirely in German, he is Austrian and kind of cute, so there is that. Oh, and the department messed up somewhere along the way and ordered the wrong books, so minimal homework this week.

My spot in Intro to Archaeology (ANTH 150) is one of those things that would have benefited from later fall registration times. Had I registered for classes within the last month, rather than the last four months, I probably wouldn't be in this class. My interests are turning toward television and production, and the slow science of anthropology has recently lost almost all of its appeal to me. Nevertheless, it should fulfill some Gen Ed requirements, so I guess I'll stick with it. Plus, my professor is chock full of interesting field stories, so yay!

Intro to Business (BA101) is kind of a freshman class, but I can still get away with being in it -- hallelujah for that. Dusseau is pretty well beloved around campus, and I suppose I can understand why -- laidback, funny, and capable of teaching the same two-hour survey class four times a day... Seriously. The lecture is guaranteed to be dull and the homework, time-consuming, but it should at least be an easy A and a good way to learn a little more about finance and economics.

Biology: Animal Behavior (BI132) seems like it might be a pain in the ass in the most literal sense, as it's in shitty Columbia 150 and my bus from Ducks seems to run consistantly late, but it too shouldn't be too terribly difficult. Hypotheses and conclusions aren't exactly my cup of tea (which I have been drinking a lot of lately), but I do like looking at slides of ickle creatures. My professor was not, however, a popular girl in high school.

Overall, other than of course German, all of my classes this term are fatty lectures -- in fact, I think I might be taking the three biggest classes on campus this time around. This sucks, but the the slower pace should help kick me into gear for the rest of the year... right? I'm hoping to declare sometime next term. I'm going to check out several new clubs and whatnot -- Alpha Phi Omega (the service fraternity), KWVA (the student radio station), and potentially the Oregon Voice (a student magazine for cool kids and hipsters). If I declare, I can hopefully find some sort of professional groups to join as well. Also, I applied at Border's, and Brenda is looking kindly into a hostess job for me at Izzy's, so hopefully I'll be busy on that front, too.

So I'm happy. Tired... A little bored... Hating my white, white walls and how the reflect on my vanilla, vanilla life... but happy. I think everything will work out -- I just need to organize my life, settle the little things (like where to get quarters to do my laundry with), and buy a calendar, and I should be set to go.

Plus, the roommates and I went out, bought packets of cookie dough on a whim, and ate them raw this evening. And I'm thinking of selling a kidney to buy the last of my texts this term. And I ran into Conor on the street, and he has not only acquired a cell phone but was also an hour and ten minutes late for his first day of work today. And University Theatre is putting on a revival performance of my favorite play in years, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", this weekend. WHEEE!
