Sideways.

Saw "Sideways" today. Laura passive-aggressively bullied us into seeing it instead of "The Aviator". I wanted to see it anyway, but it was 25 minutes earlier than "the Aviator" and the concessions line at Century 16 was awesomely confusing ( what a NEATO theatre though). Anyway, so I missed seeing "The 20" and all the previews -- my favorite part -- and we walked in 5 minutes late. Feh.

I was not particularly impressed by the movie. It had its moments, but its theme of wine metaphors got hella annoying, and the direction and camera angles weren't very original -- split screen and stuff. Oh, look, some grapes! It's so interesting the fifth time around! I didn't care much for the characters, except for the actor friend (Lowell from "Wings"), who was intriguing in his skeezy-ness, and the pretty Asian girl, who was intriguing in her skeezy-ness and ability to bear a black daughter.

Not Oscar-worthy, in my opinion, but worth seeing. It was funny, just... not as good and original as I thought it would be. Not as good as "Garden State", in any case -- once again proving that Eva has no taste. ;)

Why was it called "Sideways" anyway?
