I had to stay up and read this. I couldn't go to sleep knowing these two chapters were up and I hadn't yet read them. Unfortunately, any comment I leave isn't going to properly express my feelings on these two installments. Just, wow.

Every detail has been woven together so perfectly, nothing done or said without purpose. And the dialogue? I can see this all happening on the show, with a team of writers agonizing over the exchanges for hours or days, trying to get it just right, as you've done here. Lee and Kara's arguing in the prior chapter was something else, I loved seeing each of their own interpretations of past events--especially how Kara saw that night on New Caprica. You don't outright tell us all the details of Lee & Kara's past pre-Fall that you've crafted for this story, but you give us just enough pieces (and the right pieces) that we can grab the big picture. They're so very angry and bitter in this story and it's all so vibrant and alive in the way they fight.

I cannot, cannot, cannot wait for the second act to see how you spin all of this. What happens to Sharon, Helo, and all the other Colonials that want to escape? What happens to Kara, Leoben, and Daniel? (Oh! And despite how little we saw of Daniel, I got such a grand image of him that he didn't at all feel like a newly introduced character, but like someone we've known from the very start--I cannot wait to see more of him). And poor frakking Lee. That guy never gets a break. The imagery of him at the end, screaming and shooting at that statue of her was perfect.

Everyone who isn't reading this needs to be. In my head, this is officially BSG Season 5. It's everything I wish my fic could be.

I don't think I could have said it better myself. This is amazing!!!

And Lee? Gods he is always screwed. Can't wait to find out where Kara, Leoben and Daniel went. Is Daniel Sam's brother?

I have soooo many questions!!!!!

Tis awesome

Oh, man, BSG: Season 5 in RDM et al's hands would have been a nightmare, even if everyone had lived through season 4. Just more Gaius Baltar improbably being a new kind of cult sensation and the pretense that any of us are particularly invested in Hera.

Although it couldn't have been more of a nightmare than season 4, and don't get me wrong, I'd definitely have watched every second of it avidly. Which is why we're all here on lj, I guess.

I admit that I do agonize over the dialogue--it annoys me when I see errors or unsmooth-sounding lines, 'cause I swear I've read everything fifteen times by the time I post it (perfectionism + fan fic = slow going). And I still mess it up, sometimes. \

Anyway, I'm taking all this as strong wind blowing me toward the next chapter, which is turning out to be extraordinarily difficult to write. So really (really!), thank you for posting this!
