a real update on baby (by Jordan)
baby is healthy, mom is healthy... we're both still a little in shock.
we got to triage at about 2pm yesterday, and she was already at 5cm and 80% effaced. 20 minutes later we were in L&D, and another checked revealed Penny was at 7cm and 90% effaced (omg!). she got an epidural, and labor... stopped. they got her on some pitocin (sp?) and it sped things up again. she started pushing around 7:20, and little Alexander Elijah was born at exactly 8:00pm.
i think Penny had it pretty good this time around. only 40 minutes of pushing!
today we've made a lot of phone calls, got the car seat secured (long story on what a joy that was...), and spent lots of time bonding with baby. "Big Penny" and i went to the sprint store and changed our cell number. we finally have a cell phone in the 614 area code!
i've been accused--several times--of being a "baby hog" today. i can't help it--i love my little hairball! i never would have imagined that i could be so perfectly happy sitting on a couch with a sleeping baby in my arms. you know me, i'm the type who's always doing 2 or 3 things at a time. sitting still (especially with no tv or music) is completely out of character for me....
so far he's not too much of a fusser, though he's spent about 95% of the day in somebody's arms. he's only gone to the crib for assessments and diaper (or nappy, whatever =P) changes.
ok... i gotta get back to the hospital... i miss my family =D
